Applicator for compound?

Recently, I picked up some of the brushpro compound...

After reading up on it and watching videos of the stuff being used with CRBs...


How come nobody really uses some kind of applicator tool to evenly apply the compound?

It could save time in brushing it in and you wouldn't end up with a bunch in one spot and not enough somewhere else.

I've see some videos of guys using a colander/strainer from the kitchen... It was with the Host product but I'm sure it'll work with the BrushPro too...

I am not liking it at all. And because it drops little packages, it goes against what I think I would like: which is, a lot more even coverage.

honestly having used the brush pro compound quite a bit I think its easy enough to spread by hand without over using it.

I wouldn't use an applicator. The only reason applicators are sold for dry compound is to waste more of it then need be. Use your hand and apply the dry compound to the heaviest soiled areas. It doesn't need to be all over the room. If you tap the machine, it'll knock out dry compound in areas that you haven't spread it to.

How much is a pound of Host?

We pay $74.00 per 30lb drum of HOST.

Ok, looked it up 6# for $43.00

Normal cleaning (medium app)64sq ft per pound. One would pay just for the cleaner $7.17 to clean 64sq ft.? That is f'n crazy!! I pay maybe a dime (name brand) for 64sq. Ft..

if it was a poor system we wouldnt still see them around. and as we know from the webinars, there are some really great host companies still out there. still making tons of money.

come to think about it i should have used dry compound on a berber last night i did, probably would have been faster, Fnkn sculpted carpet.

I agree...It's also one more thing to keep up with on a jobsite that will eventually get lost.

I've been asked multiple times what's the best way to spread it. I prefer spreading it by hand. You can even practice your bowling technique when doing so.

The machine is really the mechanism that spreads it out much like dough underneath a rolling pin. Assuming you don't pile it up in one spot... The seed/fertilizer spreaders do not work so well either because the compound dries out too fast and much is wasted. We have a large mesh ladle that we used to sell but again it's just something that just gets lost onsite.
