If you are you keep a gallon of VCY stripper on your van at all times and a back 3m pad AND a Malgrit brush for you 175.

I messed up and gave a quote a couple weeks back and due to my gimp like state, I didn't get on my hands and knees to check a slate floor..

Bit my guys in the ass today. Hours wasted.

Got off easy due it being just one coat of water base...the spinner streaked it all to hell so stripper and black padded it to almost near good enough. Very understanding home owner.

Dang that also means to didn't charge anywhere near the correct amount.

But a good learning day for the boys, for sure. I hope Davis was there as this will be a good job to remember, that a good inspection is always a must.

I think it is the ability to identify and safely clean the natural stuff is what mainly separates the hacks from the pro's.

2 different animals in this hacks opinion.

My guys spotted what I didnt. They called and asked what to do..

Usually a toned down cleaning will get it clean with out bothering the coating.

But the a mild 600 psi and neutral chems blistered it so they had to strip..

They would have walked had I not pre bid it.

How would you have been able to tell that there was a coating of finish on it beforehand?

The artificial shine.

It sometimes takes the ability to get your bucket head a few inches of the floor.

Which aint easy on crutches.

I was wondering if you'd over complicated it to the point to where they couldn't follow, or not.

Always spot check stone with a acid and a alkaline.
If you spot checked the alkaline would dull the finish. You can't dull stone with an alkaline no mater what stone it is. Unless you come across floor finish.

Not so much to get the correct type but to get at least the possibility of "something" being put down and in the event of a yes then proceed with a test....

In my experience, I would say at least 90% of homeowners have no clue what's on their floor, let alone what type of material their floor is. I would never rely on a homeowner to tell me what's on their floor, it's foolish.
