Are you still in the dark ages when it comes to hard surface pricing?

Most of us were around when the Spinner tools first came out and $2.00 a foot on the coasts were common. Sealer was an easy $2.00 if was from Australia or Austria and came with a bullshit life time guarantee.

The newly designed PMF Hard Surface wand that we'll unveil at MFStP. will make it quick and easy to clean just about any lightly soiled hard surface.

If the surface does not need scrubbing, sealing, tarping/masking, why wouldn't you offer this service for the same price you clean carpeting for, or less?

Just sweep, flat mop down the cleaner and use the wand to rinse. Easy Peasy.

and wear ear plugs cause this thing is going to SCREAM!

So this post was meant for me?

No need to be passive aggressive. Just call us out next time. (Wink)

I understand your point.....but remember all our prices are considerably higher compared to most cleaners . So $2.00 a square is status quo for us. We haven't raise me it since we started offering. We raise carpet every year.

And we have many former Stanley customers that paid .$75 and were very unhappy. Only to rave about what we did for $2.00. So it's worth it to them.

and yet February is dreadfully slow...

How many hoops and ladders does John have to jump though to make it look worthwhile when he is cleaning clean floors?

But I do see an opportunity to offer "restoration" t&g cleaning and maintenence cleaning if this new thing is really what Miley is claiming. So we can price accordingly.

I don't think that it being slow has anything to do with our pricing. I have years of data showing things slow down this time every year. For ALL service we offer. And many cleaners say the same thing for this time of year. Nature of the beast when you don't live in an area that has consistent "mild" weather.

Even you said you offer the same 20% off promo this time EVERY year.

No issues getting our prices any other times of the year that aren't historically a bit slower depending on OUR market and years predictable data. I can pinpoint our ebbs and Flows. And it's not about our pricing. I can attribute to other factors.

Who's Ron Curtis?

And, Is a comparison to him a good thing.....or a dig? I'm leaning toward a dig....but don't want to make assumptions.

@Mikey P, you really believe that our pricing will be our "downfall" after being in the game for 25 years?? Are you saying that if we don't change this we will find ourselves out of business? Cause that's a downfall in my eyes.

It's also ONLY feb 3.

I've learned that a crappy looking month going into it can change just like that.

I've long given up on panicking based on projections from early in the month Bookings for further out. It always works itself out.

Based on historical data for this time in past years it's dreadfully slow. But our weather patterns have been very different this year conpard totnrh past 5 years. We also have a new POTUS. Many good back on spending when they aren't sure what change will effect them. So I can make some correlations.

And we'll see how Feb sakes our in the end.

I just can't see how you'll get many if any, home owners to pay $3.25 a foot every year. Many hard surface floors need cleaning as often as carpet.

Is John going through the motions of all the steps without ever having tried to clean as I described?

Train them how to clean the floors with a neutral pH cleaner and a flat mop and sealer wont be needed every time.

We don't get many that clean their carpet every year either. So what??? I can say carpet cleaning repeats happen more frequently, but we are ok with that. People "clean" their tile on their own. They mop etc and don't feel the need to clean hard surfaces as frequently because they have more ability/perception clean hard surfaces themselves. The best they can do with a carpet themselves is vacuum. They can sweep or vac their hard surfaces and then mop Or use Lysol and a mop to "kill the germs". The perception different. It's easier to remove visible soil from a hard surface with some good ol fashion elbow grease. Not so for carpet.

We do educate our clients on how to maintain. And because of our cleaning in combination with them doing proper after care they can extend the time between cleanings. The floors aren't looking like crap as soon. Therefore they are extremely happy with the price because they can extend the time in between cleanings.

But we do have a ton of repeat clients....even if not on a yearly basis . And we are consistently growing with referral business form those same clients.

I'd rather get $1000 out of a client every 3 years then have them pay $250 once a year for 3 years.. Less cost for us going out there, setting up etc. They feel like they got good value because they don't feel like it needs to be cleaned every year. And Take time out of their busy lives to do it yearly.

He was a riot, always talking about his operation and calling his guys "my two Aces"

Seeing how we all know there are 4 suits in playing cards that was the first indication he wasn't playing with a Full deck
