Its a great idea and I applaud you for the effort and concern about the future of the industry. However Facebook and Bulletin Boards can never take the place of associations. They are excellent platforms for the exchange of information, pop in and out with a notification. They work great for keeping in tough with the fast moving information age.
Its fast and easy to get involved but to get those participating to act as an association is asking more from them than most of the membership cares to be involved with. I don't see it ever happening.
While I don't believe Associations are dead, but the way they operate now must change in order for them to survive and thrive. They must be more responsive in real time not the way of pony express. We as cleaners have operate our business with email, texting and online scheduling why should we expect less from an association. We shouldn't.
Dead no, the need for them to elevate their game? Certainly.
The
IICRC certifying body...it can't be replaced. Improved, yes. They are working on it. I wish they moved faster but progress at this level takes time.
I hear everyone whining about how much they pay and how little they get. Ok, how much do you pay? $50.00 - $65.00 for testing? $100.00 to be a
certified firm? How far do expect that to go? What kind of marketing can you get for that?
We are expecting too much if you expect them as a certify body to market for you. That's not who they are or what they do.
They are NOT an association, they certify classes and testing.
Facebook or MB will not replace these entities.
