Ball Valves

I was wondering when using Ball Valves...
How long could they stay under pressure without damaging your hoses...
Or would it damage a hose if kept closed for a long period of time.

Since no one else commented, I'm gonna say Not at carpet cleaning pressures, and I'll add to that, the rating of the valve has a lot to do with your answer.

My ques. for you is Just how long are you keeping a valve pressurized, and why?

If you are sucking water, don't turn your pump on.

but the rating is 450 psi... i know i shouldnt use it when exceeding that pressure...
but if i was to use it how long could it hold...

I think we all use those that are rated for 450... you won't have any problem shuting them off for good periods of time even at 600psi.

I actually have a question along these lines. I was doing some work with my waterclaw and had the water off... then went to turn it on and it was acting all funny no pressure and the pressure adjuster was hot as hell! If i'm sucking water now I turn the pump on and open the heat adjuster a crack and have had no problems since. Why, anyone know?

Lester, every time you let off the wand trigger you're doing same as closing the ball valve
if your hose haven't burst from that, using the ball valve isn't going to.

The hose doesn't "build up" more pressure than what your PSI is set at.
if it's set at 400psi, it won't increase to 5-6-700 psi because of using the ball valve

WTF are you talking about????

I do it all the time on my small stair tool.....fookin handle is to flimsy to break the pressure if i just turn it off at the vavle... soooo i spray and turn the valve off...
