As soon as i finish morning coffee i'm gonna swap out all fluids on my dual-wand Vortex monster (except brake lines and rear diff).

It's gonna take all day but now the weather is nice it's time to do everything.

1. drain tranny and fill w/ royal purple atf
2. drain motor oil and fill w/ royal purple 15w-40
3. drain/fill roots blower
4. drain/fill cat pump
5. drain/fill heat transfer fluid in E2 & E3 HX's
6. grease all zirks
7. drain/fill E1 and engine radiator fluid
8. drain sedimenter bowl (seperates water from diesel fuel)

have i forgotten anything? oh yeah, a fridge full of cold suds!!!

btw, anybody know how many ounces blower oil goes into a verticle mounted roots 5.9 blower? I think it's about 6 or 8 but not sure. thansk

Yes! that is a full size Crain power stretcher under the redline spinner.

Might as well throw a new fuel filter on it while your at it.

Good call...

btw,

Bertha may be fugly but she'll clean the hell out some carpets!

day and night, dual-wand, without using or dripping a single drop of oil.

It speaks volumes considering she's 12 years old w/ 7k hours on the meter.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BERTHA!!!

she's gonna get the full spa treatment today

How come you don't advertise on bertha? How about a giant name tag sticker, "Hi, my name is BERTHA"

She's got a nice red paint job on her.

The ugly for me is the contrasted colors of the machine and hoses.

I'm sure it's a good machine especially with the regular maintenance you're doing. 8)

You should add some flashing lights to the top and a siren. You could run red lights like your on your way to fight fires. 8)

until you add the "volumes" of dough in repairs???

General maintenance is golden. A few repairs here and there sure beat making payments on a new rig. New equipment can brake down as well. Keep that old stuff running!

two 1/4" ball valves on the E3 make draining and burbing a breeze.

using two jugs you can measure how much oil comes out of the E2,3 so you can replace it with the exact same amount.

I got the heat fluid level dead center of the sight glass in one pour.

Save some cash and get Mobiletherm 603 instead of Xentherm or Dynalene. I think 5 gallons of Xentherm retails for $500 where as 603 is only $80.

Everyone i talk w/ reports 603 heats up faster too.

11/32" brake booster hose should make a good seal for the waste tank lids.

Ball valves on the cat pump make for speedy fluid changes

i'm gonna dump the pink hose this weekend.

They didn't hold up to the desert UV rays as well as i hoped.

Gonna use the red as my lead for a while and see how they do.

btw, i'm not a huge a fan of pink. but it is refreshing after looking at prochem blue hoses for the past 20 years.

I'm with you there, Chris
but some platforms are more expensive than others for repairs

Yup, and some platforms are higher performing and more productive than others as well.

So far, my Vortex experience has been a pleasant one.

Why not put some advertising on the truck?

I don't see the point of the big truck if your not going to make it a driving billboard.
