Beautiful blue rug ruined by dog vomit

I’m cleaning a beautiful rug today. I warned the customer that the preexisting dog vomit might cause further damage to the rug and be permanent. Sure enough the dyes migrated and the bile bleached the rug. Very sad. But over all the rug cleaned up nicely. Just posting this to show an example of the damage thet urine and vomit can do to a wool rug. I’m glad I exonerated the customer of the risks before taking on the job.

90 lines are notorious for staining easily.. It's the chemical wash they use to soften the wool to get that luster feel.. Don't try peroxide on them either..

You could touch up with the dye pens for rugs.. Expensive for a set, but you can hide/lessen the appearance of the stains.. White knots are a common occurrence..

By making these issues clear, you have a happy customer instead of an expensive claim.

This is business is all about communication and expectation.

From a practical point of view, that rug will continue to be a potty patch and vomitorium, so these discolorations will be joined by more, and add to the mosaic tribute to their pet’s digestive and behavioral disorders.

Are you ever gonna take my suggestion and start subbing that work out to enjoy your spare time, instead of wasting time doing this on the weekend and evenings?

Often enough. We are seeing less and less of those Chinese 90/120 line rugs though. The issue with correcting the color though is that the rugs aren't really worth much any more.

I have a never used 120 line in storage. It's so soft I could never find a place where it wouldn't get trashed by the kids. If 80s design comes back, even for a few minutes, I can unload it.
