Belly Propane Tank

Just go my new tank and want to keep it from getting ugly and rusty. I'm going to try spraying it with a paintable bed liner. Anybody else ever do this or have any suggestions?

I know they are supposed to be painted a reflective color so they don't absorb heat and build enough pressure to open the relief valve...........

not sure I'd coat it with bedliner even if painted afterward............

maybe something like por15/rust bullet then a topcoat

you better check with the local authorities, propane is a highly regulated substance

I don't see what being a controlled substance has to do with protecting the surface of the tank. Do you have a reason or knowledge of something that would give reason to say that?

You have to paint the tank a light reflective color: white or silver (NFPA 58). I don't know of any reason not to coat the entire tank with any kind of heavier product, but if you're worried about it just coat the front and bottom where it would be most likely to get chipped.

The spray on stuff I've tried is brittle - more of a fake Rhinoliner look than a tough coating. White Herculiner or Kiwi grip might do a better job.

Spray it with the wrong paint and it gets to hot and blows the relief valve. Your on the hook fir that explosion

Spray-on bedliner material does come in white.
