Has anyone come up with a remedy for BHT yellowing?

I am asking for a friend.
🤣

Is it from bonded urethane pad or another source?

Are you sure it is BHT yellowing?

If so:

Citric acid works decently, though citric/sulfamic blends do seem to have a bit more punch.

The toughest issue is that if you don’t thoroughly rinse citric acid out, it can cause resoiling, but if you do, the yellow can come back.

When it was a common problem, most guys would treat the area, and just rinse lightly with the hope that you left enough on to keep it from coming back, but not leaving so much that the yellowing returned.

If Jin’s suggestion on the Citric acid doesn’t work, brown out treatment is your other option

If those two don’t work, the yellowing is probably from previous optical brighteners being used, instead of it being bht

To Clarify, A prospect had me clean her daughter's apartment and asked me about a stain at her house.
I infomed her that based on the info she shared with me it was probably BHT yellowing. She was upset that the carpet manufacturer offered no help or warning that this could happen. I told her that my understanding was that there was no remedy for the issue. However, I will investigate if that changes.
I will offer to attempt to remove the stain with no guarantees.

@Jim Pemberton, DO you have a specific recommendation or recipe for the cleaning solution?

I've had good success (with the above qualifications) by applying Prochem Yellow RX at 4:1 with water, then rinsing lightly with Prochem All Fiber Rinse.

You can likely get the same results with other brand yellowing removers, followed by your favorite flavor of acid rinse.

This one worked for me back when that problem was common.
