You might want to focus solely on commercial cleaning. Larger jobs and more money, even though you may have to wait to get paid. When I say commercial, forget about restaurants. They're greasy and grimy and often cheap. Focus on offices and strata condo buildings. You will need a good quality vacuum cleaner, a Trinity Phoenix with extra pads and jugs, a small portable for certain stains, upholstery, or small areas. An Oreck orbiter for cleaning stairs. Residentially, I average $150-$200 per hour, sometimes a little more. Commercially, I average $300-$500 per hour and it's easier work with less expensive equipment. Retirement centers are great places for VLM. Less things for people to trip over, faster drying, less slip and fall hazards.
