What works the best. Most of the shop vacs seem to have too short andr stiff a hose and also the attachments aren't very good.

What have any of you folks found that works well for vacuuming cars and trucks out?

Good morning Bob - swap out the vac hose from the shop vac. I use a more flexible variety that I picked up from a vacuum store with a mini turbo brush. Another thing that works well is to use an air hose with the blaster thingy attachment from a compressor and hurricane the skak and dust from the carpet and upholstery. Wear a dust mask.

My shop vac hose is pretty flexible...more so than lt wt flexible TM hose.
The length could be 5ft longer

tools for on the end of the hose;
crevice tool, bear paw/claw looking thingie and the 2.5" wide flat attachment that came with my Shopvacs

BTW, I don't buy ShopVac brand anymore.
The bigger Ridgid's are better and quieter.
I'm generally not a fan of Ridgid (Home Depot) tools, i think they're junk for the price, but i like their shop vacs and have 4 of them.
2 big 'uns, one medium and a self contained one about the size of a tool box. (but still has a big vac motor) 4HP, maybe even 5hp I think

Side note; the hose on the self contained one is super flexible.
similar to those used on uprights vacs, only larger 1.75" diameter
