This solution hose caused me a full day of frustration. If you'll notice the hole in the parker fitting is very small.
I wasn't getting the right amount of water volume to my upholstery tool or 6 jet wand. I of course blamed different components of my TM and tools at first-- after all, why would I blame a brand new hose with brand new QCs..
On the last job I decided not to use this new hose and the problem was almost solved.. I blamed the problem on the new QCs because they were probably Chinese knock off-- so I installed these QC "knock off" on another hose to test to if it was the male or female giving me the problem--- both worked fine..
So it had to be the hose! WHY would a new hose be a problem!? Then I compared the Parker Swedges on the problem hose to a working hose... the hole in the problem hose was 1/2 the size of the working hose..
Hope this post saves someone a headache in the future.

Funny, I was just having the same problem with the exact same orange Parker hose.

The opening at mine is small too, yet mine would work and then would stop, just a quick squirt and no more water after that. Checked the jets etc. Finally changed to a new hose, worked for a while and stopped. Eventually by elimination (and the art of chance) I squeezed the two quick connects together and than it would flow. Even with the hose I threw away because I assumed there was a blockage in it. Once I would stop squeezing the QCs the flow stopped. It seems like there was nothing wrong with the hose.

My conclusion was that the stem at the male QC would not fully engage. When I removed the female side and replaced the other side with a new male, it flowed freely. Happened last week and today. I am not 100% sure that it is the stem in the male part that does it (could be the female side) but true to now (replaced all males) it seem to work.

Very frustrating! I hope that this was the issue.

I bought mine at CMS told Ray (via Junior) to check if he got a bad batch of QCs. I wonder if the Parker hose opening is normal or an issue. I know Ray would want to make sure this issue is corrected ASAP he did not even charge me for his time when we were trying to figure out what the hell was going on.

Also I have an on going issue with the male part getting "distorted" seem to get a little oval, so that when I try to connect the female would not go in. Happens to both stainless steel and brass and to fairly new parts.

Anybody else has the same issues?

I returned the hose to Proline where I bought it.. all the hoses they had in stock had the same parker fitting with small opening.. they said these fitting were standard and that maybe there is a clog in the hose.. I told them that the parker fittings on my other hoses had a larger opening. They said that this is how they get the hoses-- They let me exchange it one of their hose that has the same open to see if it solves the problem.. I haven't had time to test yet.. I'll up date you later.

Since the title of this thread is to beware of defective hoses, i'll put Continental in that category. I bought 300ft back this summer and the first one developed a bubble in it, so I returned it,and the next 150ft of it got black water in only 250hrs.

Only when they freeze. They seem to expand just enough they no longer connect.

How cold is it getting over there Ofer? :winky:

Ain't freezing that's for shoo.
See, I know cause had it froze here, we take that kind of crap personally, we would have impeached the governor.

I think there's something wrong with this QCs. Not connecting well so the water can't flow and the males being deformed after a while. I don't know if its the heat (pressure buildup) or whatever. Never used to happen.

Ofer.. I installed the same QCS that were on the problem orange hose onto my old blue hose which had larger holes in the parker fittings and the water volume problem was corrected. .
I really think the smaller holes are the problem...

Not for me.I removed the male qc's and the hose was spewing water like a mother....
When I changed to a newer hose it worked fine for a day and than stopped. Yet when I pressed the male and female qc together the water would come out fine. So there's no blockage. At least for now.

Very disrupting and I can't say with certainty that I got it.

It could be that we're having a different issue. I would get a short squirt of water and than it would stop completely. From your description it sound like you are getting water continuously just a lower volume.

The male QD's will sometimes mushroom out so the won't fit back inside the female QD. This happens because the steel ball bearing inside of the female are harder than the soft brass on the male.
I spoke with the manufacture and they are not aware of any defects in their product. I'm calling some other distributors to see if they are having similar problems. I haven't found anyone yet that are having this problem.

Nice hands. Have you considered a career in modeling?

Does any of your Brass QC have the Stainless Steel Pop-its in it? I've had a couple of bad old QC not opening over 300psi...

From your description it sound like you are getting water continuously just a lower volume.

In realty it was a dribble of water most the time... same flow as what you explained.
Luckily most the work that day was upholstery and didn't need much water---but it really slowed me down on a filthy sofa-- so that took the cushions to out plant inside.
I would think a lower volume of water would also effect the QCS spring mechanism.
I see it as this way--- a 1 1/2" vac hose moves less air then a 2" hose... I really think someone installed the wrong parker fittings.. the hole in the parker fittings of my blue hose that working fine is twice the size of the one in the picture....
Maybe MB resident Mad scientists Dan Gardner can shed some knowledge here?

Ray I think most CC would do what I did at first and blame other components in their TM or tools like I did.. why would I even think of blaming a hose with no moving parts once the QCS are discovered to work fine on other hoses..
The only difference between the hose that worked and didn't work was the hole--- or maybe a clogg inside the hose--- but we have filters to stop such a thing..

And most manufacturers would probably play dumb and deny the issue..

John, pay attention if it happens again, it may be the connection between male and female QCs
My Parker hoses have the same small opening and there's no problem with volume.

Ray,
The mushrooming that's happening a lot lately (never used to but then my 1200 runs hotter than my previous CDS) is different than the water not coming out. The mushrooming makes it impossible to connect QCs. They should not deform that fast and it happened on both stainless steel and brass. If you remember that why I replaced mine to stainless steel to begin with.

The stopping of the water seem to happen because the little stems in the QC's are too short, or get soft, or the spring gets fatigued or whatever. Once I pushed the QC's together, the water would flow fine. Once I let go- kaput. Not sure if they are wearing out faster or if it is just a freak batch. They should last longer.

are you sure they are parker crimps? You have to use parker crimps on parker hose and use a parker die. Otherwise you can "crush" the crimp or it wont crimp and blow off. If it is a parker crimp is it stamped 10156-4-4
