Are Sapphire units the only machines that use a Bimba?

Which actual device are we talking about? http://www.bimba.com/

At 164 hours mine has not gotten lippy with me yet but I want to be ready to smack it around..

Looks like this one to me http://www.bimba.com/Products-and-Cad/Actuators/Inch/Compact/Low-Profile/Flat-One/

I really don't think yer gonna have to spank it much if at all, IMHO. The shaft on mine has stuck twice with the shaft in towards the heat ex. assemble. I simple reached in with a pry tool (a cheap angled gasket scraper) and bumped it free. My theory is there are some tight clearances that the plates rub on inside the assemble and crud gets them stuck.

Mine filled with dirty water also had to replace a Mac valve. Another guy had a problem with a ground wire so it was stuck on off position.

Right now mine stuck in off position, I can remove air hoses and manually divert and when I check the air hoses it feels like it should work correctly but when I put them back on and manually move it to heat position it closes. Like it stuck in the off position.

I had it stuck once when dirty water went through it. I have had dirty water go through it since but I kept running it the rest of the day and maybe that cleared it. I haven't any issues for at least 500 hours. I only have 660 right now. My 570 is rocking...

As I'm sure most are.

The Sapphire phenomenon is that that many, if not most, of their units are being bought by the new generation of Online Cleaners..

who have BBoard and FB accounts and know just how to get the attention of the manufacturer when their Bimba bops..

Most would love their Bimba a little more if they had fought with first generation exhaust diverters.

I had the electro magnet. It worked fine but needed a little work once in a while. Broke a few couplers from the strength. The original design needed set screws when it should of been a D shape.

@dgardner posted this on another thread

  • No power to the thermostat. Unlikely, as it gets power from the same place as temp gauge and hour meter.
  • Bad thermostat. If the dial is set colder than the current temp it should send 12V out.
  • Broken wire between the thermostat and Mac Valve, or bad ground wire to the Mac Valve.
  • Bad Mac Valve. When it gets the 12V from the thermostat it should switch the vacuum ports.
  • Broken, cracked or kinked vacuum lines - one from the blower inlet to the Mac Valve and two from the Mac Valve to the Bimba air cylinder.
  • Bad Bimba air cylinder.
  • Linkage issues from the air cylinder to the diverter valve (i.e. the clevis pin fell out or something like that).
  • diverter plate stuck (gummed up with exhaust deposits?).
  • There has to be at least 7 in Hg at the blower inlet or there won't be enough vacuum to move the air cylinder. Unlikely - if your vac is that low you would have noticed!

I think my issue today is hose related when I take my hose off the off side has suction. Then with pump on an heat on the the vacuum pulls to the onside just not as strong.

When reconnecting though it won't budge from the off position not even with help I can manually divert righ now.

Still it a head scratcher when it feels right on the two little vac hose are going on and off at the right time just not doing the right thing when connected 1500 hours on mine. You got lapped twice Tom.

Are you guys spraying WD 40 into the lube port for 5-7 second at the end of everyday because if water is getting in your Bimba from over flowing the recovery tank then you have to make sure to lube your blower. I am sure some of the WD gets into the Bimba and prevents it from corroding if done properly.
