I've been using this new model for about a month. Though it's pick up ability is good I'm not terribly impressed with it.

My issues:
1. Have already replaced the belt twice. They're cheap so no biggie. Can tell when the brush isn't spinning optimally by the sound.
2. In mine the sponge filter is very dirty after even one job. All find dust but seems like more should be staying in the dirt cup? Again not a biggie, can just stock several sponges and swap out after every job or two.
3. Hepa filter is already black after a month. Yesterday vac wasn't behaving right, the hepa filter was basically clogged. Got a big face full of dust when I checked it out. Probably b/c the job I did yesterday had a lot of fine white powder in it that got through the sponge filter. But seems like 1 month out of the hepa filter sucks, and I've had a headache since yesterday when I got the face full of dust, not fun either. Can these be washed and re-used or have to swap?
4. Seems like dirt leaks a bit out of the cup, the vac on the sides near the top of the dirt cup will have some fine dust after each job that has to be wiped off.

I like seeing what I'm picking up as it helps tell me what speed to vac at, but maintaining this thing is a PITA compared to my other vacs (lindhaus and royal). Do you bissell lovers have these issues? Maybe I need the Healthy Home model instead?

they're a "throwaway" vac, dude.

All cheap vacs have problems with "blow by", (the dust you notice on the outside)

Hepa filter is paper, can't be cleaned

Don't know why you're going thru so many belts.
are you setting the roll bush too deep?

The Bissel out sucks your Royal and Lindhaus
But don't expect the same quality from a vac that is 5 times+ le$$

use you Lindhous for clean jobs
retire that heavy antique monster Royal
and use the Bissel in dog house res and trashed rentals
That way you won't stink up the bag holder on your Royal and have to replace it or stink up the Lindaus

I understand it's essentially a throw away vac. So maybe those are the only uses I should keep it for.

So if I were to want a bagless vac with good filtration without these other issues what would you recommend?

Terry, maybe it's too late for me. Not sure my Astro could hold a truckmount and my John G machine.

Throw the Bissell....Royal definetely has more suction than that thing...If paper filter clogs any bit what so ever you will probably loose a significant amount of suction, proly at least 1/3

Sorry but the only bagless vacuums that are decent pretty much are the old Amways or Dyson..even they kinda aren't worth the money..no paper filters...Clean it out all you want...still going to have to replace as much as you would buy bags...I know you wan't to see what your taking out but just get something you know is picking it up instead of watching yourself go over 5-6 times with that Bissell....

The Lindhaus has the brushroll for Pet hair and anything on the surface..not alot of lift..

You won't crack a fan blade on the Royal like u would a Kirby cuz it's metal...switch is metal unlike plastic Kirby.

The Royal is easier to clean than the Lindhaus...Use the Royal for nasty's...just spray some deodorizer on the outter bag whenever you clean it up...Use a goood quality thick bag and and vacuum up some sprinkle stuff or corn starch for any musty smell...

Take Royal apart and scrape grease and crap out of fan blade.

Clean out Lindhaus and soak attachment wand to get crap out of...Make sure airways are all clear...and blow out motor with air compressor.

Polish them up and your good to go.

I'd run the momentum just fine, I wouldn't use the HEPA filter unless I had a customer that specifically said something about being sensitive etc....
I want it to catch dirt and ghost turds, not the polio virus.

baloney

you're not a gambling man by chance are you?

I've owned a Royal and a couple/three different generation kirbys

I think we need a Rainbow salesman here.
They're my favorite vac salesmen...

Grant, if filtration in important to you, stay with bagged models
and change the bag after ever job

I see you're an OP guy.
Lemmie ask, are you using any of those vacs to groom/set damp pile after OPeeing?

I've used all of them to groom after OP, but I dislike the royal for that function most. Lindhaus is the best for grooming after the OP.

Whatever the case I have to take the baseplate off and rollerbrush out and completely clean whatever vac I was using each day due to all the stuff that gets in them. The momemtum is easy to service because you can just pop the baseplate off take out the roll brush and clean it out. The momentum hasn't clogged yet so I don't think that's an issue but it could be. I once had a dyson dc17 and it clogged almost every day.

The royal outer bag can go in the washing machine on gentle cycle, I do that every few months.

Man, that has to be a challenge in it's self.
You're asking a vac to do what it was never intended for
( vac wet carpet)

I can't imagine using any vac without a by-pass motor for that.
The fan/impeller on your Royal must get gunked up in time too

Guilty as charged...or used to be, sold them for about 18 months. That was over 10 years ago. I was a cop and sold vacuums on the side (not much overtime, very little off duty work and crappy pay in a small town.)
