Blog hosting advantages

Is there significantly more advantage hosting your blog on a different server to your website?

Alot seem to say that's best, but when you have already paid your hosting fees, is it worth doubling them up for 'better' performance?

Anyone got any trackable data? Gut feeling? Tried both?

Depends on how you plan to use your blog, but IMHO your main company blog should (usually) be on your main domain.

Thanks, I was talking to a couple of New Zealand guys and they indicated links from a blog to a website were more powerful if they didn't link within the same server.
