Is WD40 still the go to for lubing your blower or is there something better?
Wd40 is not blower lube. You are not lubing your blower by spraying anything in it. What you are doing is displacing any water that may have accumulated during usage. Wd40 is fine as the WD stands for water displacement. If you have had water or foam getting sucked into the blower, best thing to do after dumping your waste tank is to run it at high speed for 5-10 minutes, spray wd40 or other into the blower port while running then shut it down.

How would ND 30 weight work just to lubricate the lobes only ?
No no no! Especially if you have exhaust heat exchangers. You’ll have it clogged up in no time

Wd40 white lithium spray or that stuff the dealers push just to keep them off your back any time you need your tm serviced is all you need anytime your tm will sit more than a day

From what I have learned is wd40 is not a rust preventative. It dries out and can actually cause rusting.

It's safest for the heat exchanger though. Lubricating oils coat the heat exchanger and need a cleaning solution run through them more often.

WD40 is Stoddard solvent, Bobbles ...also know as "white mineral spirits"

if Matt is using white lithium grease, he doesn't have any of my genes in him and it wasn't his momma at the Sugar Shack

regarding clear CLEAN water thru a hot blower

I thought Bob was nutz when he first suggested that.
But damned if it doesn't work GREAT

Two cautions though.

Not sure I'd want all that muck/gunk that comes out running thru blower HX'rs...

and two

water doesn't compress (like air, that blowers are designed to move) .
I wouldn't suggest a "full stream" garden hose volume thru it on a wound up blower.
Bob only spun his blowers at like 356 rpm ....so maybe it's dif'ernt compared to a blower spinning 2-3 grand

A full on garden hose will just bog the motor down like cutting off the air to the blower.
You can use a 5 gallon bucket and a small hose to the blower lubricating hole and let it feed itself. Use a little detergent first then fresh water. Then just let it run 10 minutes or so to dry it out.

Yes flushing out your blower does work!
Did it this spring by squirting some ultra extreme into a open port in the waste tank a about 10 min. and flushing with a trickle from the hose for another 10 min. You should see all of the black crap come out from the blower exhaust. But I don't have any blower exhaust HX to worry about.

boggs worse than putting it under load
and why do you think that is?
It's because you're putting a chitton of stress on a precision ground tool not designated to move anything but air

It there's a WD40 lube port, that will be fine .
But if pouring full stream into a hole big enough to swallow that much flow.....you're an idiot

You won't hurt it. May stress the belts or coupler but it won't hurt the blower. It will just fill up the inlet and disperse as much as allowed through the ports until it's clear.

But a little more than a trickle is good. Adjust by the way it sounds.

Never hurt a blower in over 40 years..(356 rpm ?)NO...THE # is 1650 rpms...! And yes you DO trickle the water in till the blower has cooled a bit but if you want that sucker
Clean flush the fck out of it......AND
while we're talking about dumbasses abusing blowers.....
Jus exactly wtf WAS it that drove to Michigan to pick up that free blower that some nice person GAVE them.

Huh?
