Then you can take off the colling fan cover and be careful not to lose the aluminum spacers that come off too.

I like to keep everything organized so I use a old egg crate and try to label all the nuts and bolts of what they come off of.

Then you have to remove the choke/throttle plate, you will have to work the plate and cables around so you wont have disconect them and you can pull the engine shroud back.

Next is the rocker arms just unbolt them all the way and try to keep them together as a whole little unit and then remove the guide plate.

the head shoud be able to come lose just by pulling on it a little backa and forth, this is what the backside of the head looked like with the blown head gasket.

Re: Blown Head Gasket

What you do now is manually move the piston up to the top of the cylinder and scrape of all the old gasket material it dosent have to be spotless but do your best to get all the big stuff off and do the same to the head. then you will put the new head gasket and if you get new head bolts use them and just repeat all the process in reverse not forgetting to replace the exhaust gasket and intake gasket. You also need to spin the motor by hand to reset the lifters dont just go and start up the motor.I hope this will help someone.
