Have an opportunity to buy a boxxer 427 for $1000 obo. Needs a coupler. I have heard horror stories about warped heads and great stories about great heat and power. Any thoughts?
Not sure, the guy hasn't got back to me yet. I understand those engines aren't available any more.how many hours on the Vanguard Briggs engine?

How many hours do you have on yours?I own one. I've heard the horror stories also, but mine has been really good.
Around 3800. They guy that I bought it from had new head gaskets put in at 3000 just as a preventative measure because they don't make that engine anymore. How many hours do you have on yours?
Water, but I believe if you do the retrofit for the 31hp Vanguard that engine is air cooled and you lose a heat exchanger.is it water cooled or air cooled, Nick?

Engine is still running apparantly. The coupler blew and he doesn't want to pay for the repairs. Sounds like a 47 blower. $1000 is probably worth just the parts. Also has a 100 gallon waste tank.Around 3800. They guy that I bought it from had new head gaskets put in at 3000 just as a preventative measure because they don't make that engine anymore.
Sounds like a good deal to me. The blower should be a Tuthill 4007.Engine is still running apparantly. The coupler blew and he doesn't want to pay for the repairs. Sounds like a 47 blower. $1000 is probably worth just the parts. Also has a 100 gallon waste tank.
Part of what I do is buy and sell stuff. If I can buy something cheap and either fix it and sell it as a working machine or for parts, it's both fun and profitable. I made about $5000 last year doing that.If you have time to do all these things ^^ to get that unit functional, then I’d suggest you spend that time working on a business plan instead
