Boxxer shuts down after a couple of minutes. I have to think it's a sensor. When it shuts down, none of the electrical components are active even when ignition is "on".

I know when the waste tank gets full and the machine shuts down, the fuel pump still runs as well as the freshy pump.

Absolutely nothing is live when she shuts down now. After a minute, she'll fire back up only to do it again fairly soon. Thoughts?

Dirk,

There are no sensors involved in getting power to the fuel and fresh pumps. See the partial schematic below. The red line is the only wiring common to both pumps, it splits (green and blue lines) at the fuse block.

The path for power to the fuel pump is: battery+, wire to inline 30A fuse, wire from fuse to ignition switch bat terminal, ignition switch ign terminal (if the switch is on), wire to fuse block, 10A fuse FU-2, wire to fuel pump.

You can trace the path with a simple 12V test lamp to see where you are losing the voltage. loose fuse terminals, bad ignition switch, intermittent fuse (it happens), loose or corroded battery terminals are all likely culprits.

Also be sure to test for a bad negative battery cable too. ground your test lamp on a bare metal part of the frame and touch the probe to the positive battery post (not the positive cable!). no light means a bad path from the neg battery post to the frame.

Oops - one thing not shown in the schematic is the wire from the battery to the 30A fuse actually goes from battery to starter solenoid then to the fuse. Make sure the junction at the solenoid is tight and clean.

Harbor Freight has this cheapie for $3.99, you can also get nicer ones at NAPA, etc.

Time to trade it in. You need the reliability and the tax write off a new machine will give you . Let that thing give up the ghost and move on.

You're right john. Should have a new tm in about two weeks. I just need to knock out some jobs before that happens.

Lmao. No, there's even more stuff on one of those that I can't fix!

I don't think the board rules allow me to say what I'm getting. That should be enough info for you to figure it out ;-)

Now I just need to figure out the best way to unload the boxxer. I may put it on a stand and tinker with it to get her in better shape

I believe you can still say that one but will have to make sure. What size are you getting?

Is les building you a custom or you just getting something regular?

NO! Do not run with out a fusible link!

I repeat do not run just a hot wire without a fuse.

If it burned up like that, there is a short somewhere that needs attention.

Find that short!

In order to melt that something is going to ground that shouldn't. The vibration is causing it to touch. It can happen to any machine even a new one. A lot of guys when fixing other stuff push wires where they shouldn't. You might of caused it by accident.

A half hour test run went fine. Fuse didn't blow. I'm wondering I'd my apo or freshy pump was drawing too much? Wont be running either until I get it figured out.

Old fuse housing.

When I ran an apo on my c.d.s., it would blow the main breaker every time the pump out would kick on, if that helps at all

Now, that more info has been shown,

1. Check the current draw of the item the fuse protects with a reliable meter.

3. It should be less than the original fuse amperage.
