It's kinda hard to describe how I did it but basically I hit a carpet to wood floor transition.

It immediately started making a knocking noise and would quit turning at slow speeds. I was able to finish the job though.

I took it apart and this is what I found. I hope I can buy just the gear and not have to replace the whole motor. Kinda sucks because I've only used this thing maybe a dozen or so times.

If you can't get a spare, I am sure you could get that machined up no problem..

Bummer though

Not easy to repair, and I'm a pretty good welder.

This machine should have had a shear pin or something to protect that gear.

A good principle for any such machine is that the "weakest link" should be an inexpensive, easy-to-repair item.

It should never be a delicate proprietary part.

Thanks,
Lee

Hear hear.
And I hope all manufacturers are listening to Lee's common sense.

you can call them and they will send you out a new gear. its no big deal. On my old original 360 I replaced those a few times.

Lucky....you were NOT using a RX 20....

You would be buying a transition strip.... :!:

Of course...the RX 20 would have completed about $20k worth of work...to buy the strip..

a "few times" ?? no big deal??

How many hours on it?
Reason I ask is cause the first time i saw one it looked like a light duty POS

iv done the same ting twice now.. you can get the gears from roto-vac

are they sending them free??

I hope the HOSS kick's their ass.
I'm not a big fan of Rotovac Co.
Blatantly LIE to me, and then pile on MORE bullshit gets a permanent spot on my shitlist

I bought mine used so I'm not sure how old it is but based on what Rotovac told me when I ordered some felt seals for I believe it was made in 2006.

I have them in stock they are not expensive and easy to change. The 360i head with it's design doesn't have this issue but the old heads seem to snap the teeth when they hit hard immoveable objects. The swoop head rolls over giving you time to realize you just screwed up and get it out of the way.

Cool John, I'll get a couple of those from you and a faucet key if you have it. I'll call tomorrow.

Thanks

It all should be there. I'm flying back tomorrow so I'll call the guys and make sure they get it right.
