I was hoping to locate a steel company or whoever to purchase the rug grids for dusting rugs. Does anybody know where to find them or what is the proper name for them. I know I can get them from Rugbadger and Centrum-Force, but I was hoping to find them else where (cheaper). Unless they are having these custom made, it looks like something that would be easy to buy "over the counter" if I could just figure out what is is called and where to buy, anyone?

I was looking for some a few years back. I looked to see what the base ball fields used to smooth there fields. I think they are called metal mat or grids.

I'd rather have the plastic one's than the metal.

That metal is awful sharp on you hands, as Randy mentioned can you only imagine how it could damage rugs.

I think Dusty posted a few days ago that you could use the white plastic lattice that looks like the thin wood lattice fence material.

Here are some links from a couple board members for products similar to what you're looking for :

Sweendog:
http://www.battingcagesinc.com/index.ph ... fieldDrags
http://www.northamericanmat.com/steelmat.html

Lisa Wagner:
http://www.acehose.com/ma_turtle.html

Lisa has a blog with information and links to other products for setting up a basic in-house rug cleaning business. Googled plastic interlocking tiles per her instructions from a earlier thread... http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/50397 ... cking.html

http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/22289 ... tiles.html
just to show a couple found on one search.
Good luck!! 8)

I don't use'em they can damage the pile on a rug .

I'm not a big fan of the metal ones either. You can get anti-fatique matting with more holes in them to do the similar thing, which is to allow a place for the dust to fall away into. We also use those mats for the wash pits too. Can be bought at Home Depot or Lowes or Sams Club.

I also agree about possible damage, but I do not believe it is the grate that causes the damage. My Miss Hildy has not damaged any rugs as long as I have owned her. OL Dave Burns Jr and I were talking years ago about how DA Burns used One of Miss Hildys relatives with the grate before they got their big duster. Our grates are a bit different, one piece 10x13, Miss Hildy's motor is not as strong and runs at a slower RPM which I believe is a major differance why there is no damages to the rug..

When Dusty visted me for the first time is when he saw first saw a grid. The ones he found to sell are a slight bit different than mine.

By using a tyvex sheet over the rug stopps the damages caused by the higher speed and more HP newer units straps which do the beating ie. badger/wolverine.

John, after seeing your grids I bought one from a baseball supplier (an infield drag mat). I lent mine to a _______(please insert your own noun here) It brought it to Vegas and then found a source and has been selling them ever since. That being said I don't use them or that red piece of_______( please insert a noun here too) either.
