Just wondering do any of you carry small portable detectors?

Something unobtrusive that could be worn on a lanyard or clipped on a belt without getting in the way or looking stupid?

When we service the refineries on the railroad we are all required to wear little sensors that just clip to our vests. It's pretty similar to what a miner also wears. Not sure on cost but I think it would a great idea.

Nearest plug to entrance ought to do it...plug a couple in different places

I've thought about a cheap battery one, keep it in a pocket of the spotting bag(always by the door hose comes in). I use the bag to keep door the door shut.

I should do that.

I think what you want is a Carbon Dioxide tester.
That's the harmful gas from your TM that can kill you and customers.
I have one about the size of a pager-- never really used it; but I try to park in a smart manner---having said that-- maybe I should require my guys to wear one. :icon_rolleyes:
I'd post a photo of it, But I'm in Thailand and the detector is in SF.

Yeah its the carbon monixide you dont notice and which kills.

Co2 will cause you to cough and irritates the lungs (that burning sensation when you hold your breath is Co2 buildup not o2 shortage)
I might put a battery one on my vacuum I normally use that to hold door shut after vaccing

Dang! I got the two mixed up again, a common mistake i hear.
Cars omit both gases but it's the monoxide that's more toxic, here's why:

Carbon monoxide is considered as a toxic gas. This is because it can bind with hemoglobin in our blood (where oxygen molecules bind) and block the transportation of oxygen to body cells. Therefore, the body cells do not get enough oxygen that possibly causes the death of those cells.

Thanks for the correction. What the best sauce for "eating crow"? Haha

Haha all good, I briefly worked as a construction diver and dive instructor (I get bored easily) carbon monoxide binds 16 times more readily with hemoglobin than oxygen so can go around your body 16 times before you breath it out which is where you get a toxic buildup
