Here some photos of a carpet I did yesterday. Aprox 12 years old and original owners just sold and moved. The carpet has a greenish tinge bit where the furniture is you can see the original color. Concierge informs me that units in this building with same carpet all have the same problem. Any idea what causes it?

I see him on Facebook on one of the stupid sites I signed up for.

His email never did work for me. He wanted verification of my military status before he would me take a course. I think he was full of doody.

I agree with Richard. UV fade is my first thought. It could be from BHT or fumes / pollutants in the air. Would have to test to know for sure.

I would also say UV exposure has faded the maroon color.

We just finished some Accelerated UV inhibitor testing with a large roll fabric treator for our Ultraseal solvent protector product which they currently use. They tested the UV inhibitor with hi-intensity UV plus moisture cycling.

The new UV inhibitors got a maximum "5" rating on the "painted" polyester fabric from a previous poor rating of "2".
This is a tough test with hi-intensity UV lamp for a specific number of hours with humidity. https://youtu.be/8S9ZJ9vFBgU

QUV Accelerated Weathering Tester
The QUV is used in more labs throughout the world than any other accelerated weathering tester. In just a few…

In my climate, The Blue dye is the first color to leave the carpet...

There is Sunfade from direct sunlight and what we call Ozone fading from whatever the air can get too... It can happen within the first 3 years..

It is a function of the particular dye they used in the carpet.

We bought a solution-dyed nylon carpet from Shaw for our showroom.

The maroon dye in the carpet came out with water only extraction.

We called a carpet inspector who told us the legal definition of solution-dyed was 90% or more.

The 10% that was NOT solution dyed was the Maroon dye, which faded quite quickly from the carpet.
