I wanted to share this picture our concrete specialist, Dennis, shared with me. This is a customer of ours, O.C. Concrete Stain. kicking ass in a juice bar where they put down a 1/2" self leveling overlay that they dyed and polished. This floor looks even better in person!

There is a ton of stuff on youtube you can check out. Just search for concrete micro toppings or overlays. It's pretty cool.

Here are some pictures of the process. I took 3 days to complete.

Day 1

Demo the ceramic tile

Grind the floor to a 30 grit profile

Put down a moisture barrier epoxy and broadcast sand into it and let it dry over night

Day 2
Sweep up excess sand

Mix overlay 2 bags at a time

Pour onto the sand

Spread with a gauge rake set at 1/2"

Smooth (be sure to wear spike shoes)

Let dry overnight

Day 3
I don't have any pictures of the polishing process because I wasn't there for it.

All polishing must be done dry or else it will be too aggressive for the overlay
Start the polishing process with 50 grit semi metal diamonds
Then 100 grit semi metal
Then 200 grit resin

Apply the acetone dye

Polish with 400 grit resin diamond
Polish with 800 grit resin diamond (optional. This job stopped at 400 grit)

Apply the guard and burnish. Prosoco Polish Guard was used for this job.
