Hello,
I saw some youtube vids on the Cimex machine and Encap process that weren't real impressive. I was looking at investing into the Cimex, but wanted to see who has used the Cimex encapsulating commercial carpets and what your thoughts were on how well it worked (even on somewhat visibly soiled carpets)?

Also, what Encap solution do you like?

Thanks

Just do a search on the topic..it's been discussed over and over.

Cimex is great with the right encap juice.

I know it isn't a Cimex, but i'm loving my Orbot. I should not be allowed to have this much fun.
How do find the comparison with the cimex? I really want to get a cimex as soon as I can get rid of a couple floor scrubbers. But I am not looking forward to the weight of it. Does it do as good of a job as the cimex?

Two different ways of looking at the machines. The Cimex is a planetary drive system with three small pads turning. The Orbot is an orbital with one large pad going every which way. From a perspective of cubic inches, there is more pad surface area being cleaned with an OP. From the perspective of agitation, I would think the Cimex is better. As for portability, the Orbot wins. I would not be able to lift a Cimex into my van. I've used both, and they are both good in my opinion. I believe the Orbot to be a bit faster.

Not when the kiddos are crawling around on it.

And jimmy is right by the way!
I hate it when Jimmy is right. Coming from someone who has done hwe all his life, when I do encap, it feels like I am skipping a very important step. When doing hwe, I vacuum, prespray, agitate with a 175, brush pro or orbot and then rinse with a tm or portable. When encapping, I vacuum, prespray, agitate with the above mentioned machines, then walk away leaving the encap solution to clean the carpet by itself. Having said that, on the commercial carpets that I have encapped, I have felt the the encapping was very thorough in removing traffic lanes, particularly in front of elevators, where we have struggled in the past. Dried very quickly and has not resoiled. Of course, I feel that cleaning with hwe is better as flushing out contaminants but encapping does seem to be very efficient at cleaning. Even if you only do it as interim maintenance.

I have only used a Cimex a couple of times and I have recently acquired an Orbot. I would say that the Cimex is faster on large areas but the Orbot is more versatile. You will need 2 people or a ramp to load the Cimex into your van. The Orbot, you can live yourself. If you are doing large open areas of cgd, I would say use a Cimex. For smaller jobs, an Orbot will be easier in my opinion. The Orbot with synthetic scrub pads will clean just as well as a Cimex.

You CAN lift a Cimex into a van.
Gary Bethel has been doing it for years by standing inf front of the machine & lifting it in from there.

Yes, you can also lift an Orbot into a van.

A Cimex weighs in at 105lbs
An Orbot is 82lbs
A Sprayborg is 102lbs

I believe that any of the above, being large, heavy & awkward to lift, one day you'll do your back in.

But, for all you guys that KNOW "that'll never happen to me", please yourself.

This is why I always have telescoping ramps on board.

Not my van. It's too narrow between the hose reel and chem shelf

The further away from the equator the less a Cimex weighs.

Not if you factor in the rotational velocity of the Earth, flinging a given mass away from the (slightly) greater mass below it at the equator. In fact, the higher off the ground, the greater the effect. The same object would seem to weigh more at higher latitudes because the centrifugal force is less.

Take a waterhead like yours, for example. North, it would freeze solid, potentially damaging doorposts and car frames. It would not seem to be heavier, just harder, because you'd be used to it.

In mid latitudes like Alabama, it is not frozen, a bit soft, but in an equilibrium between gravitational attraction and the Earth's deep seated desire to fling you into space. So it works and for all you know, you are normal.

At the Equator, a tall man like you risks having your head flung incrementally outward (higher) with every rotation of the Earth. In no time at all, not only would your neck stretch like spaghetti, your head would swell like the GoodYear blimp! It would hurt beyond belief but even worse, it would frighten small animals and children.

In short, stay in Prattville.

So, Mikey needs to stand on his Mellon at the equator?
