Clarke 609

Has anyone ever seen or used a Clarke 609? Is this worth anything?

Looks like a well made vacuum. Does it still work. I'd probably use it in my shop for wood chips, It probably doesn't have a very clean exhaust.

It works and has decent suction. Let me clean it up and then I will also take a picture of the inside. One would have to make their own filter or buy one for like 60 bucks online (that's how much a Clarke 609 filter is from a vacuum store I found online). I have been unable to find a filter to fit it elsewhere but I'm sure I could find a generic one if I just took the measurements. Stand by for pictures

looks like a great tank vacuum its only problem would be as Gene mentioned. It's not HEPA rated as far as filtration. Vacuum up small particulate and it just sucks it up and redistributes it into the air space.

Sure it would work but why lug it around when you can get a Shark with a dust cup that would vacuum better and is a whole lot lighter. Unless you plan on using it for closet work. In that case...never mind.

Looks nice. Call Crandall Worthington in Ferndale at 248 3988118. They have been a Clarke distributor forever and may well have some old parts to fit that classic.

My first floor care wet vac was a stainless NSS. A real classic. Looked a lot like that Clarke. Good machine! I sucked up a lot of floor care juice with that little fella.

I started my in the industry with Clarke in 1978. The 609 vacuum you have is in good condition. The bag was a "dynal" and "sateen" bag combination. The Sateen filtered the course dirt to the bottom of the tank. The Dynal bag was for the fine dust. You removed the bag assembly that is on a ring to pick up wet stuff. The bags did not collect the dirt the just filtered it before the vacuum motor. You don't empty the bag you just shook it to release the dust.
There should be a foam filter on top of the screen under the vacuum motor.
The 600 series Clarke Vacuums were most popular in the industry.
There was the 612 and the best seller was the 600a.
The 609 sold for around $450 if I remember. You could still get $300 easy if it runs correctly and you clean it up.
I'll see if I can find you a bag assembly.
