On the stairs to the second floor in my house, there were several beverage spills on the wall, some had run down to the baseboards.
Finger marks etc on the walls. Dust, etc. on the baseboards.
My wife wanted them cleaned. It is a thing of hers about having the house clean. Typical woman.
So, I get out the cleaner, spray the affected wall areas, and baseboards.
Wipe off with a towel, took maybe 5 minutes.
It's good to have a happy wife.
And it reminded me about my process when cleaning. For more than 30 years, I ALWAYS cleaned people's baseboards where I cleaned the carpets.
It was so long ago, when portables were the only way to "Steam Clean" a carpet. Before Truck Mounts were even thought of.
A customer complained about the overall look of the freshly cleaned carpet. It was as clean as it would come, but the dirty baseboards detracted from the overall look.
Wanting a satisfied customer, I took a damp towel to the baseboards, and removed the dust. She was now happy.
It does not take much for me to get the idea.
So... from then on, I used the wand- held it up and sprayed the baseboards- there is ALWAYS dust on them.
This ALWAYS improves the overall appearance- especially if there is filtration lines along the edges.
The soot and dust that makes the filtration lines accumulates on the baseboards too. Removing this is very quick, and easy, and I recommend you all do this too, whether you use a portable, Truck Mount, bonnet or OP system.
With the bonnet or OP system, the pad extends past the driver, usually enough to get the edge soils after the spray has washed down the wood.
If there is a lot of filtration soiling, deal with that first- I preferred a stand-up brush, so no hands and knees work.
