Anybody working with the Kinetex textile composite flooring.

The project manager says I can only clean with hot water and no chemicals, detergents or anything. I read the maintenance pdf she sent and it was the opposite of what she said.

We cleaned a small portion of it this past Sat using super heated water only and it didnt look too good.
Water actually has a hard time penetrating. Kinda bubbles around. Its 2x2 carpet squares in an office building.

Suggest using Grease Eraser, and push the fact that it's main ingredient is phosphorus, which is the most abundant mineral in the body, meaning that it's very safe, and rinses out very easily

Imma bite my tongue on that one......

I'd clean like normal also.... The hit her with the proper usage of carpet tiles and the reason they were designed.... Carpet tiles were made to be rotated out for cleaning.... Hell, you could pressure wash them when removed to clean them......Problem is, carpet tiles are too damn expensive for consumers to rotate them out like they were designed.....

Would you wash your clothes with water only.....?? I rest my case your honor.......

The customer is always right, even when they are wrong. Just let her know that by not using any cleaning agents on it, you will not be able to clean up to normal standards. Maybe show her the manufacturers maintenance suggestions and let her know if you follow those recommendations, you will get more acceptable results. Either way, the price is the same. Less chemical means more work.

I'd ask the PM how they clean their clothes, kitchen, bathroom, car or virtually anything else.

Did you explain your discovery from the PDF, what did they say?

You can explain that water alone is not a good enough cleaner, however if they're committed to it you do not want to alienate them. They will just find someone else.

You may put it in writing (that it will not clean well etc.) . Express concern, show respect and all the trimmings, and suggest a trial smallish area cleaning. Let the results speak for themselves. And you price it in.

Yes - and she responded with ....

Good morning,

That is confusing, and now that I am reading this, I realize that it is different from the one that I was originally given. I apologize. I am going to reach out to the carpet sales rep to get some better information on this particular location. Thank you for your quick response! I will get back with you.

Regards,

Dude you can't let the tail wag the dog. Well if you need the money I suppose you might. ??

If you present your case. Show them proof and they are still locked into doing the wrong thing, I'm walking.

Not upset or angry but professional with the explanation that your company cannot perform substandard work, not even at a premium rate.

Your reputation is worth more than a few bucks.

Shes just project manager of design and installation from another state on a commercial account that I have had for 8 years .. I told her I was going to follow manufacture recommendations and use cleaning agents as specified in the pdf regardless of poor information provided by the salesman who says hot water only. I told her to contact the manufacture not revisit the sales guy.
