A little about myself, I went to East Carolina University in Greenville NC. I got my degree in Business Management. I have played the last 4 years in the NFL. I played with Redskins, Raiders and Chargers. I am currently a free agent. I started up Cleaning Maid EZ in February of this year. Up to this point I have been providing janitorial and maid services. I have just brought an Everest 650 with E-idle, it is currently being installed in chevy extended cab. Im targeting commercial accts for immediate cash flow such as big churches, restaurants and daycares. I will get into residential by E.D.D.M. targeting very specific neighberhoods.

So Im trying to figure out how to structure my sales pay scale. I have heard that if you put them on salary, they won't be motivated to go out and make any sales. Therefore, I want to do pure commission, but nobody is going to want that position. I really want to find something that works so I can find and keep good sales people.

Im thinking about doing straight commission. Do you think 15% of 1st month of contract and 5% every month there after for the life of the contract is a good enough incentive?

What are you guys doing? What have you heard that works for other people?

I have learned a lot from the discussions up here, this website is AWSOME!!!

Thanks for all your help!!

So Willie it sounds like you finally figured out you are NOT good at football and have come to realized your true calling is cleaning. :winky:

What do you foresee this person making a year in order to keep them?

Greenville looks like a very small community, is there sufficient work there to keep a sales person employed?

How serious are you about the cleaning business?

Are you going to take an active role? Build it to sell it on this is your future?

Have you considered hiring a consultant?

* Remember its all ways good to have a backup plan. deskjockybuyseverest650scheap.com :winky:

If there is ANY hope of you being picked up by another team, why start a cleaning business now.:eekk:

There was one game I was watching Sunday (and I can't remember for the life on me which team it was) but they were down to their 3rd string center and moving guys all around the line. See if you can figure out what team that was and give them a call!!

You and I actually have some things in common. Growning up I wanted to play in the NFL too. But for some reason no team (NFL or college) wanted a 5'11'' 180 lb offensive guard.

Question Willie are you asking about people who'll do the cleaning for your business??? or sales people who generate leads??? There are programs for getting commercial work, Not sure about offering commision for lead generation, but if they dont produce, they dont get paid. Hopefully You as an owner know how to do the work or hire people who do. There's SFS through Jondon lots of uys here used that to grow they're business.

Kind like what Richard was mentioning a coach so to speak.

But there is tons of info here to, welcome.

Pay scale for workers should be hourly based with incentives. Base pay start $10-12 per hour the more they get trained and certified carpet, upholstery, water restoration.
They can make more more more, but a base pay with commision is best.

I would say starting out you should be doing commercial selling yourself.. If you are set on having someone else do it I personally would hire a women to do it (people trust them more).. My employee worked at Stanley Steamer and when they had sales competitions they separated the women to their own group because they would just blow away the guys..

As far as hiring someone to do the cleaning I think hourly is better, and giving them a percentage of up sales.. You don't want to go strictly on commission or you will end up with a guy that comes off as a desperate used car salesman..

It takes a while till you will be busy enough to be able to hire people and give them consistent work.. SO in the beginning you might be doing alot of the work yourself. If you have employees working for you already(in your cleaning/janitorial biz) you might get by using them to help you when you are busy cleaning carpet.

Also get a glide for your wand at greenglides, you might be able to push a unglided wand against the Everest 650, but good luck finding someone else that's willing to.. That machine is also capable of running two wands.

Don't mind Desk Jockey he is a Bears fan so he has NO clue what talent is!

He mentioned to me in a P.M. He has 2 certified guys who work for him. I told him any thing comes up the answers are here!

Commission for sales people, not technicians. He's looking for a number more specifically to pay a commision percentage for a go getter who drums up account work.
