Water damage call came in this morning as well as other items going on... :dejection: :hopeless:

Couldn't take the job, didn't really want the job.

Clients asked who do I recommend... :errf:

I told them I don't give referrals and recommendations...

You have to screen them yourself just like you would me.

Here are the other 4 company names in order of the phone book.....

Just got flaming call by one of the companies pissed I recommended the other...

Told him story and he still gave me crap...so again I told him "I don't recommend any of you!!!"

Told me.... "I hope you didn't do something wrong"!

Um ....what's that mean dumb S**t

I still don't recommend any of them... Now especially this company!! :icon_twisted:

KMA!!!

Yeah.....I'm irritated today!!! :madd:

I had a local janitorial company that I would help with big or really dirty jobs they couldn't handle. One night I was eating dinner and I got a phone call from the owner. He proceeds to tell me that we wouldn't be doing any more jobs for him because he just leased a building, hired a sales manager and leased a new Bane Clean system. He proceeded to tell me he was going to put me out of business and he felt it was only fair to give me a heads up.:icon_rolleyes::icon_rolleyes::icon_rolleyes:
I wished him the best of luck, told him if he could accomplish his plan he deserved it and said goodnight.
He called me six months later for a job, as he had gone bankrupt.:( Told him we had no openings at this time:rockon:

I'm friends with most of the guys in my town. There is 1 asswipe and zero rez....not a chance. When people are looking for dirt cheap hack cleaning I give a recommendation to our local hack (hes a friend) when there is no way can I can possibly schedule them or they want work on weekends I send them to my good local friend. I actually rent and share a shop with my competition.

Just happened to see the homeowner yesterday morning....

He said everything is going ok...still wishes I was on the project, but understands.

I told him about the other company and the call.

We talked about it awhile, and like I told him, probably don't validate anything the owner of the other company said....

But he told me "Mark, you were very good about NOT recommending any of the other companies, but were helpful to answer my questions in positive manner so I could figure it out what to do"...

Told him the other company said "Saiger Recommended the other, but again, take that in context" and he is a pastor, so also told him the other company indicated maybe someone from his church said that....

We had good conversation about the ordeal, and both pretty much affirmed that ALL the other companies in our area, need some work....but again he understood why I was not able to take on his project and understood why I have limited my restoration work.... as his father one day as a business owner just decided to make a life change in his business too (Downsized)

Once the company is done with the dry down, he has decided to employ some members of his church that are contractors to do the repairs....

I had a local realtor call me yesterday with a water claim. I bet I had to tell her four times I didn't do that kind of work before she got it through her head she needed to call somebody else. First she was confused, then irritated, then the pleading started and finally resignation set in. The whole time I was really busy and Mikey was calling on the other line.

I want to throw this phone in the lake sometimes.

I agree she trusts you or has been referred to you by someone that trusts you. You're kicking out to the unknown, to someone she has no knowledge of.
That's one reason I feel all cleaners should do at least the WDR for their clients. Beyond that you can pass on the ones you don't want to do.

I'v been thinking about starting into water damage myself. the local guys around me that do water damage have been screwing up and now i see how to take the work away from them. and make some ching. Time for market domination.
one of the local cleaners i met years ago came up to me and shook my hand and said "nice to see a new startup", i shook his hand and said "yeah congrats on that" and followed up by explaining that ive been in business longer then they have by years. haha. he started off saying hello to me as kind of a hey im the boss here mentality, and ended up him scratching his head and wondering where i came from. hahah..

We only do restoration work for long established customers who have been told in no uncertain terms that we get paid by them at the completion of work. Everyone one else has the right to choose from the yellow pages.✌
