My military account asked if I would do a second unit on the same day for less than my normal minimum of $300..
Hi Emily

When I came up with our pricing 4 or 5 years ago it reflected far more invoices per year then I get now. The removal of the free annual cleanings and now I almost never get to clean the carpet in the units anymore, its turned into far less work over all.
Most of the units are taking me 3 plus hours with lots of detail work ( paint drips) so I'd really like to stay at $300 per unit if at all possible

Thanks!

Hi Mike,

Yes, I do understand and we can keep the $300 a unit. I do have a couple of requests, the guys have been mentioning that there is scuffs, marks and missing paint on the baseboards or walls due to your hoses/machine. Can we please ensure you are using guards / corner guards when cleaning the floors? When your son was out here during your absence he was using them and it greatly helped keep the extra work after floor cleanings at a minimum.

So today I go out and the two regular fix it guys who I bullshit with all the time, are in the garage working and don't say anything for quite some time.. until the bald chain smoker gets me with "You better be using your corner guards damn it"

I give him the look and tell him to FO, and we all bust up.

They then ask why the kid isn't working for me anymore and I told them the whole construction story and how much his starting pay is and they got all sulky and pissed off cuz it's probably twice what they make...

I ******* hate corner guards.

oddly enough, they have been replacing carpet with every new move in for over a year now.

Two bed room units were $327, three br for $370 and four for $427, now I just do about 450' to 600' of vinyl for $300....

I know but it's just so much easier to bring in enough hose to not scrape the corners...

I do that also.
It's all about selling "The Sizzle"
Besides- the corner guards are also my "Wet Floor/slippery cautionary signs.
Placing them is the first thing I do during the walk-through-- making a great 1st impression--
then the blue mats on wood floors to really seal the deal.-- The Seal-a-door also is great.

Now I remember you giving me Crap about how your V pulled your hoses so tight you needed corner guards. Jerry agreed with me pulling extra hose was easier.
Was I right?
Funny because I have been using corner guards more. I've been slower so I'm taking my time more.

150 of those needed paint and bondo work too.

I bitch about the paint drips too much, this was their way of getting back at me.
I still work on getting Genny to stop complaining about other contractors.
