Crunchy carpet

I had a pee job and I used the Harvard pet stain on it. I've used it in other jobs and this is the only house I've had trouble with it.
I sprayed down the pee spots and then hit the whole room with it. I used the Rotovac to rinse it out. When it dried it was hard as could be. This was the only room in the house to do this, and it was the only room I used Harvard on.
I went back and cleaned it again with Bio break and flex ice rinse. It's still stiff.

Any suggestions?

I have been cleaning this house for a couple of years, and never had a problem.

How much pee and what did they try on it maybe before.

If both those products used and still crunchy something is definitely weird.

Pet Stainoff is Neutral 7 pH, the flex products are even lower pH I believe...

And with the Rotovac would have flushed it well...

What was the carpet like before cleaning because as I type this I am wondering if they used a bunch of powder carpet fresh type products.

I would try another prevac and see if you get a bunch of white powder out of it into your vacuum.

Have seen this happen and do the crunchy thing... And the people have told me they didn't use carpet fresh... Or maybe only a little bit.... Almost destroyed the vacuums.

If it is loaded with powder yet, need to Vac like crazy and acid rinse clean.

I don't know what she used. Customers will never tell. I'll make sure to prevac real good. I just got a new Dyson, so it should pick up real good.
I'm puzzled too. Harvard works good and I haven't had a problem elsewhere. But this was the only room that did this.

If you have a little air compressor, you might want to bring that along....we had to once....

4 Dysons and an air compressor to try and keep all the carpet fresh out of the Dysons while vacuuming up the stuff.....after such a cleaning....

Then be prepared to have to take that Dyson apart and wash everything out....

This happened to us after a cleaning...we got the call because the clients new Dyson was picking up crazy amounts of carpet fresh....

We knew the carpet fresh was in the carpets....but it wasn't until after the cleaning that the stuff just literally exploded in the carpets and was now loose and more to vac up....

And then acid rinse like crazy again...and know it will still be coming out for a long time

And it was crunchy....we finally got the crunch gone at least....

I will be curious if it is this it and maybe that bad too....

I went back Saturday. I vacuumed and didn't get even a pinch of a powder out.
So I ran the Rotovac over it and rinsed with prochem All Fiber Rinse. I put out an airpath and a couple of other fans and waited for it to dry. It seemed to feel pretty good.
However....... as I talked with the customer, there was a home machine sitting in the kitchen.....

Well, here was my urine job from few days ago in empty.

This is the carpet powder, carpet fresh that came to the surface.

Sculpted Berber... We didn't see any carpet fresh, powder when first prevac, but obvious it was there...

Just went and did more prevac, got out a little more...

Then treated with Hydrmaster UPS and some Harvard Desert Mist deodorizer with quat properties (neutral 7 pH)

Let dwell and hit again with the Zipper SS Super Spinner and used an encap acid pH in the rinse.

Will see what happens this time... Green and Blue Berber.. It will show up if still problem

We cannot get the powder to vac up worth a dang and blasted it again the other day as noted...and still being a problem....

So....back again tomorrow and see what we can do....

I hate Carpet Fresh type powders a lot! :madder:

Instead of you using a rinse, just use water. Acid rinses sometimes leave more powder behind as they dry, as well as encap products, Procyon etc. When you are already dealing with powders, don't add any more. Fresh water and more fresh water will usually solve the problem.

When I used powder rinse years ago , I noticed my own carpet was ' crunchy ' after cleaning.

We only clear water or liquid acid rinse now.

Powders used to clog lines and filter screens prematurely as well.

Have to agree with Nate on this...
Listening to the wife complain about scratchy hands, pretty much a "party" killer...
Do I have to say it? It depends on where you are touching them. If I try to touch my wife with rough hands, the party is over.

Exactly...

;) I'm not saying I got puppy paws, I do like it when they rub lotion in my hands to soften them up....
