I have to wonder just how many instructors are willing to go to this length to help better the industry...
I think a fair answer to this has a lot to do with what the marketplace wants.
Some large organizations (your host an obvious exception) just want their people to have "the patch on the arm" for the lowest possible cost. Individual owner/operators who have considerable hands on experience also often want the same.
For those who really want and need more than a video presentation or instructor demonstration, it requires a sponsor who can provide the needed hands on materials. In my case, I find a rug plant, whether it is as amazingly large as Aladdins, or a smaller, but very well run place that Joe Appleby provided, suits my needs just fine for hands on training.
For what you do, the sponsor commitment is so much higher.
In both events, the historic "distributor sponsor" really doesn't work out well. (No disrespect to the distributors....I am one myself of course).
The final part is the cost of what hands on training involves.
It's expensive for the sponsor to provide, for the instructor to present, and the student to pay for.
But done right, it is well worthwhile for all three.
