My lg 3ht heater seemed to be losing heat so it seemed a good time to descale it. I took an old pump out and hooked it up to the cold water inlet and put the return line back in the pump out ( you could use a 5 gal bucket with a sump pump) I put in 3 gallons of descaling fluid in and and turned on the pump. The solution was clear to start, if you look at the last pic, that's after running the pump for 2 hours. I am sure this will work for any type of heating system. Just put some t connections on your inlet/outlet and let the descaler circulate for a couple of hours.

Running the sump pump, not the units pump. Keeps the descaling fluid circulating. I have had running for 3 hours now and you can see the increase in scale and detergent residue coming out. I'll stop it in a bit and flush with water. Hopefully the heat improves.

I was trying to avoid taking it apart but it is a 1 1/2 years old so I guess it's time. I got a ton of junk out of it with the descaling and the heat improved but not all the way. Guess that's how I'm going to spend my weekend. Thanks for the videos. I've done it before but it's nice to see it done properly.

First time will take a while. After that you will have it down to less than an hour I do mine every 6 months.
