Weekends deserve better threads than this.

Perhaps then you should come down from the balcony, hop on stage and show us all how it's done

sounds like more bullshit bafflegab to me. Next time you have a red wine stain on a carpet, try cleaning with pure, distilled, fresh or whatever water and see what happens.

I've pulled plenty of wine spills with just soft water.

if it was that easy, people wouldn't need to call us.
All a custys has to do is put a damp towel on a wine spill and weight it down and wait a day.

I recommend this often but most want to give me their money for some reason.

One of Jim Pemberton post discussed that sometime just fresh water or distilled water can remove the wine spill without additional steps on the upholstery. Point of the article is the science behind the rinsing power of fresh water without any added chems to it. You do this after applying cleaner to said fibers.. less can be more for effective cleaning

way back when, I tried going without an emulsifier and found that it cleaned just as well as with one. Surprised the heck out of me.

The plus side is that it seemed the carpet stayed clean longer too.

I liked it so much that I took the chem pump off my water pump. That was years ago.

At least now I know why it works!

Thanks for the post!

Ron-- if i understand the report correctly, it doesn't say to clean with plan water. It says to use the proper surfactant or chem but rinse with pure water without any added chems.

It may be true for specific stains but you have a better chance of removing soil using an extraction detergent when rinsing. Years ago, I moved from a company who always used an extraction detergent after the prespray, to a company who rinsed with fresh water only. It was a struggle to clean as efficiently with just the prespray. Many times, having to stop and respray certain areas.
