In the first year of MB, Mikey interviewed me and I think Bawb chimed in about the fact that if he didn't lay out traffic paper, his customers would chase him off the porch with broom.

Fred C can probably find the exact reference

I knew I could count on you Fred....

I see I confused the paper with the "you better NOT groom carpet warning" It seems memory is imperfect, but searching history is not

"If i where to rake and groom the carpet Mrs old black custy would beat me wit her broom.. they ALL like the triangles"

"And i BETTER have the green paper to put down cus the would riot if i didn't...."

We use to, but I explain anything I put on top of the carpet will hinder dry times.

And offer shoe covers instead.

Also letting them know it's best to stay off it a few hours too.

Butcher paper smart and final big roll customers loved it.

To many times, they would say I moved the paper the next day and it's still wet.

Yeah cause your hindering evaporation with the paper.

I try to accomodate which is the room they need to walk into first, (time pending for next job),Clean it and have it dry before exit. Sometimes I like banging out stairs first, little bit of a Pia but so is everything.

I had 1 older lady I cleaned for way back around 1978-79
Every time I cleaned her wall to wall wool carpet she had a stack of
cut up brown paper grocery bags for me to layout all through her traffic areas.

I had requests to cover carpet with a layer of paper back in the years, but recently, not so much. I do remember though, Mrs. Jones covering her carpet with a bunch of towels as I turned my back. I think that covering the carpet is counterproductive and may cause safety hazards as someone already mentioned. I strongly advise against it, since I leave the carpet barely damp( 75% of the area is completely dry) I've been practicing " speed drying" for many years now and customers love it. Carrying extra weight ( blowers) doesn't always help production times, but so does the vacuuming, crb-ing, etc.

I heard a lot about you, hopefully we will celebrate your 90th birthday with the wand on your side. There is nothing wrong with being active at that age, I envision myself doing the same. If I'm not swinging a wand, I find something else to do, and that costs money in most cases🤭.
I wish you many more years servicing your customers !

Just Dry it.

3 fans one room. They wanted this done first.

You got them in the truck, they are paid for, and they work. why buy paper.

Then the bottom stairs

Then the middle. Took an extra 30 min. will not get a call back, unless they want the tile cleaned.
