So what is mindmap software? I googled it and got a few different things back.

I've used a program called "Freemind" over the past few years and really like it. But I've been looking into Mind Manager as it looks like it has a ton of enhanced features.

What is a Mindmap?

mind mapping

Scott,

Lisa Wagner is a huge proponent of MM. I tried the 30 day version but I still prefer the markers and paper version.

Tony Buzan is the creator of the original mind mapping. Any books by him or Michael Gelb will explain it with many colorful examples.

If only we would have had that in school when we were forced to do those archaic outlines with Roman numerals.

I'm sorry Jim Bethel, I inadvertently deleted your post. Please type again.

BTW, I agree that if kids were taught Mind Mapping in school it would make for a much smarter bunch of kids.

Bill - have you tried the newest version of Mind Manager? It looks amazing.

Ok, I've been trying to get my brain to work this way. I just read "Raving Fans" and attempting to mindmap a customer service plan for my business. Anyone have any examples they might be willing to share? What else have you guys used this technique for?

I couldn't take it any more so I bought MindManager Pro 7. WOWIE!!! What a program!

Rick, which mindmap program are you using? I have a bunch of MM's in Freemind and created a few now (with a dozen more in work) in MindManager Pro.

Re: Jim

When I glanced over this post, I was thinking to myself..."I am sure I have posted an comment in regards to this topic, and yet I can find it. Maybe I should go back to re-read Tony Buzcan's books again to try an activate the problem solving area of my brain, as I am positive I have left a comment here"!

Then I read your post

Phew! :) Yes, I have read quite a few of his and others MM authors works. I find it intriguing. But like I said originally, if people were taught this from an early age, it would be a lot more productive I think.

I downloaded freemind. How much was mind manager pro?

Between $140 - $350ish. The cheaper version (Academic) is the same version but it's for your kids in school.

My kids are awesome. They bought it and didn't need it so they donated it to me. ;)

Jim,
I can't agree with you more about teaching kids this as youngsters. If you like Tony Buzan you would probably also like anything by Michael Gelb or Mike Vance.

Would anyone mind sharing some Freemind mindmaps or even PDF files? I'd like to see how other people organize things.
