I don't clean rugs on location..... I'm considered a rug snob.....

A good friend of ours has a rug spa in his shop. We are going to start working together with it. I'm going to market to my existing and future customers and we will share the profits. He has been teaching me all the things I need to look for and take pics of before I even remove the rug from its location.
Should be interesting!

I've never thought to lift rugs and inspect underneath, I have always asked the customers to move the rug out for me if they want it cleaned on site so there would be no issues or responsibility on my part. But it is good to see this, because even if I am cleaning around a rug they could try to blame me for something like this. So in the future I will be checking for this.

Actually I was explaining to them that the rug would bleed on itself. It would leave little purple runs. This had never been cleaned, it transferred dry. On That particular style rug the blacks and reds aren't stable. I removed the damage to the carpet below but told them it would just return. I've found it comes out pretty easy as long as it's a dry transfer. It's a pretty common sight here when people place tapestries on top of carpets.
