How would you remove duct tape adhesive?

Its a high rise so with portable or spotter machine, no heat.
Didn't see it yet but think its some CGD, probably higher end.

Apparently painters used it to put down plastic sheeting and now are having trouble removing it all.

Shane;

You can purchase "Adhesive Remover" ( I forgot the actual label) in a 32 oz can at Lowes. Located in the Paint Dept. Very inexpensive.

We used to use a lot of that back in the 70's/80's/90's. Works great.

Heat the tape(w/iron and towel), it will pull right off. Use a solvent for remaining glue... Easy(at times)!

I've used a gelled citrus spotter (Hel-Gel from Vacaway) with good results. Agitate and rinse, rinse, rinse.

I would bring a couple of the above and see what works best Goof-off can work too, it gives me a screaming head ache so ventilaion is really important, but with all the above mentioned I would spray a general spotter like Perky first then use my solvent/spotter on a white towel. The water based spotter will give you some protection against over application of the "solvent" hence the chance of delamination.

Sam;

Dynachem POG is still our biggest seller for oil and grease removal. It is a combustible product for spraying large areas.

The Stain Solv is a specialty spotter for those difficult items like ink, furniture stains, and some dyes.

It is flammable, so it does need to be rinsed with hot water.

And charge accordingly. I regularly get duct tape that has been down for a year or more in college living situations. $10/foot

What is your policy for 2-3 months when the residual adhesive start showing its new collection of soils?

Yes it is true, any adhsive left will attract a dirt line. Make sure you charge enough now or charge in three months ot follow up. Give some cards to the painting company.

Run a dry cotton towel over the area when you "think" you removed it all.
You can often feel any residual adhesive grab the towel and help determine if it needs more work.

Thanks scott and mikeysboarders!
Went with avenge pro but brought the other stuff just in case.

This was the clients response this morning.
I love it when clients want to pay me as soon as possible :headbang:

Hi Shane,

I think the carpet looks really good! Thank you again. Please reference PO# ----on the invoice for this work. Are you able to send me the invoice via email? I want to make sure we get it processed for payment as soon as possible.
