You can search around and find an article that will tell you that having carpets in your home is a health risk or that cleaning your carpets will give your kids Kawasaki syndrome. I wouldn't put much stock in that article about dustmite as well.

There was an article in the Reno gazette from a lady who basically said to rip out your carpet and install hard surfaces because carpet is bad for indoor air quality. A few cleaners wrote her a loving letter.

I'd love to see some clear unbiased evidence that it does work. I'm not sold.
