So Eric sent out his Mini Zipper to many of the members here and other than George V, no one had the balls to say what they really felt about it.

I was not impressed what so ever with it's performance but it sure is well made.

Anyone else care to share?

Erik,
I just want to say that ....You are a "straight-up" to allow these guys to DEMO the unit..!

We did NOT request the unit...

However..if you are receiving un-acceptable reveiws...WE will give an HONEST reveiw...!

We are not on the SS payroll.....

Mike doesn't do commercial carpet cleaning, that's were the unit shines. There are quite a few board members who have bought the Zipper Jr. They tell me great things about it, but most of them don't post. Here's a picture of the 15", 6-jet that I have been working on.

Thanks Joe, from your post, I can tell you would be a straight shooter.

I used it and was happy with it

it was harder to push and pull around on plush carpet than a Ti Wand but dry times were better and I was missing one weight
if I bought one I might need a vacuum relief

carpets stand tall after cleaning

easy enough to adjust with different carpets

like the sight tube

customers that like to watch you work were impressed with it, it is something different to them

the left wall was a problem, tried it without the sight tube but vacuum hose was to short, if you had a little longer clear flex tube like on the RX it might solve the problem a little

it wasn't to tough to use in the residential setting around furniture, etc. but it won't go places where the Ti wand can

much easier on commercial

didn't really see anything bad about it, every tool has it's good and bad points

this was from several months back

so was this one

I like the zipper, it has one issue as far as I was concerned

the couple of restuarants I was cleaning went out of business, if it wasn't for that I would buy one

like the way it contained the steam

I see it as doing for HWE what the Cimex did for encapsulation, allowing you increase your production numbers to a point that you can be competitive with the low commercial rates and yet still put some decent change in your pocket. 8)

I've seen it and used it briefly at MF-6 and it is built like a tank. I'd like to see what my tech's think and if they would use it.

As great as the tool is, and I do think it it is a great tool for commercial, it does me no good if they won't take it off the truck.

I see no advantage over a regular wand.

Make it 20 inches wide for commercial if you want to say it will make you go faster.

Isn't HWE on commercial going the way of the Yellow pages?

I very rarely use HWE on commercial anymore and I do more commercial than ever.

Kind of like improving the buggy whip.

We did well north of 1/2 a million last year in truck mounted steam cleaning of commercial carpet~ I would say it is not going the way of yellow pages.

I don't think it will ever go away for commercial, at least not for us.

We start every new account with HWE to flush out all we can and then continue to maintain the appearance with VLM systems.

I will give my review in detail should I get a chance to try it. Richards comment about the guys not using it would be my concern. I had 45,000sf of carpet lined up for when I thought I was going to demo it.

it is 10 flow just like my Ti wands, how can it flush better?

then bump it and now with 2 vac slots you can go slower....

plus its "sealed" keeping the heat even closer...

with that being said its best use is still in the hotel biz halls or conference rooms...

eric, The new 15 attachment looks nice, how has your testing gone so far with it? Will the new head attach to the junior handle? Hows the vac at the head since theres more air flow?
Would it be an option to engrave a custom company name.

thanks

i am impressed-and it makes perfect sense to me. As the supervisor of a carpet maintenance and cleaning crew in a casino-i am always looking for ways to accomplish more every day. It looks easy to move and manuver. Not too heavy, easy to use. Faster dry times means the area is open for the public that much sooner. Under the private contract, every high-traffic area on the casino floor got HWE every 90 days-with periodic maintenance buffing. i am sorry guys  -say what you may about encapsulation, i still, and always will, view it as a important part of any maintenance program-sooner or later it will have to be HWE. Buggy whip or not, imho-it doesn't get any better. Now that the program has been pulled in-house, we use alot of riding and walk behind equipment, as well as a CFX and 360i. It still gets extracted every 90 days. And it looks good......Damn Good. :p

I haven't a need for it but I cleaned a church over the holidays and I can see where in large commercial it will out perform a 10flow, or any flow, wand. A wand always has to keep moving backward in order to flush and extract. I was pulling my wand back and forth across the room in floor wide passes. With a Zipper, you'd push it and it would be easier to handle. If I was doing large commercial buildings I would be considering this tool.

We used it the last 2 days and it's absolutely incredible. It actually more manuverable than the 13". I thinks it's due to where the balance of the weight is a little different in the head.

The head is very easily interchangeable by removing the one adjustment screw in the back of the handle. It will slide right off. But, I wouldn't suggest buying just the head because the head is the majority of the cost and you would only have one unit.

I haven't ran it on a small blower yet, but with your 8,000 Q Vortex, you surely wouldn't have a thproblem with air flow. Both units use a common lid, so the attic space is the same in both units. Unlike the original Zipper that required more air flow and lift. Also, as you know from the Zipper Jr., both vacuum ports pull evenly due to the placement of the vacuum flange.

We will not be offering custom engraving due to the complexity of fixturing the product for final machining.

Also, we re-engineered the vacuum flange on the back of the handle to have a swivel or to lock right or left.
