Engine question.

I have a 25 horse liquid cooled Kohler motor. Now that its summer it gets really hot in the van. I was wanting to run a fan off the battery to cool the belts and run more air over the engine. The fan I am looking at will pull 20amps. Is the little alternator off that Kohler going to keep up? I also run a pump in off the battery.

Ghetto fix:

Run a hose from the intake of your air filter and run it outside the van.

20 amps is a lot of power even at 12v. You need to find out what the alternator on the kohler is rated for in amps.

Is your engine an LH685 ? Looks like you have a 15A alternator, and you need some of that to charge the battery and run the pump. Not going to be much left over for a fan I'm afraid...

I installed 2 of these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NASCAR-R ... arQ5fParts out at the front of the unit and ran cooling hose directed at the engine sheaves. I'm not sure how many amps they pull but it's not bad.

I just went out put an amp meter on one of them. It pulled 2.6 amps.
