I postponed this week's work to next week, has been nasty here all week.

Now, with almost a foot of new snow NEXT week looks iffy as well, the Governor even issued a state of emergency for travel.

I've been doing maintenance and getting stir-crazy.

As a younger guy in Michigan I've driven in much worse, but you can easily mess up on Kentucky roads and ice.

Be safe!

Nashville is nearly closed today. You should slide thru tomorrow ok, but stay on the interstate (24). Very bad today from Nashville to Marion IL, lots of accidents even on 24, worse on side roads.

Mark, YOU can drive well on it, but you will be surrounded by people who cannot.

Is there a lot of ice? Snow?

We are trying to get updates on our phone waiting for dinner...

Agree... It's the other people we need to worry about as well!

Yup, I got another UPS service disruption email for Louisville - I seem to get more from KY than anywhere else.

So You're the reason my Amazon Prime shipment is late.....

Seriously, everyone be safe out there.

How does it compare to that blizzard of 78', Lee? Got snowed out of Ky that time.

Ouch, remember that. Had three little ones, payments, and most of my work was out of town route work. I took a local factory maintenance job to make ends meet, stayed at it 3 years. Unfroze lots of pipes too that winter.

There were three of us in a loaded down Dodge Tradesman Van. We were looking for a back way into Ky because the police had closed all the major roadways. We came across another van loaded down with passengers stuck in the snow. We made a deal with them that if we helped them get out they'd stay and make sure we got through. We didn't and they took off. We spent all night digging out of that drift, but made it eventually. What a storm that was.

So, how does this one compare to that one?

this one is more hyped up
The grocery stores love that part.

In spite of the fact the snow gets cleared so quickly these days, It's interesting how people continue to stock up on food for a week or more when snow is coming.

Water - lots of water purchased. Like what, we're going to run out of water or something? Or we all live in Flint?

We are here (Huxley) all day/night. I'm not sure you'll be quite this far tonight but if so stop by! Heck you can spend the night if you want. Totally dog friendly at our place :headbang:. Mel can cook too!

Anyway, leaving to visit my dad in Rochester, NY bright and early in the morning (Sunday). Let us know if you can stop by for even a few minutes. There's an exit for Huxley @ 20 minutes north of DSM on 35.

Stop or not, be safe friend!!!

Yes he can. My wife and I went to the SFS class @ JonDon in Dallas a few years back. Eastern Oklahoma, East and central Texas were socked in with ice. We were in a Mustang GT and had to be careful but really had no trouble getting around. We did stop in Paris TX. and grab a hotel room for the night and then went on in the next morning.
There were HUNDREDS of vehicles in ditches and in positions I've never seen before. The whole week stayed below freezing.
It does make a big difference if you have experience driving on this stuff, Mark can probably shoot video while driving.
