Hey Fellas/Ladies,

Just trying to get an idea about how much of a pain it would be/was to sell a tm, with a van and without...

We need a new van soon and tm will be paid off in a few months. Thinking about options, maybe new tm, also...

So, how long did the unit take to sell? Was it a hassle? With van?

How old of tm/van?
How did it sell?
Do you wish you kept it as a back up?
Better to sell before tm issues? Or keep as long as possible - what did you do?

Thank for the ideas...

Stay warm, it's fooking -6 tonight. wtf?!

About 3 weeks, sold van/machine with hoses and tools

How old of tm/van? 2003 GMC/White Magic Pro-1200

How did it sell? CC Facebook page

Do you wish you kept it as a back up?
No only bc I bought a new truck and still have a solid 7 year old daily driver

Better to sell before tm issues? Or keep as long as possible - what did you do?

Planning on running second truck a lot more this year and didn't trust it, nothing major wrong with the rig

Thank for the ideas...

Actually I was surprised when Interlink made me a reasonable offer.

The corporate owned locations will actually buy your equipment, vs smaller independents usually only able to sell it on consignment.

Yeah I would have made a bit more with a private party sale, but it was 100% hassle free to just trade it in and let them resell it.

What are you selling and what condition is it in?

Please, also consider at looking at the sale of the unit through a potential buyers eyes and not your own. Really hard to sell "your hard earned and paid off" equipment instead of selling just a used piece of equipment.

Too many guys I buy their equipment and they think because they bought it that it is a special unit, but you have to look at the market and see what is moving and what is not moving both unit and price wise, apples to apples not oranges to apples.

Most of the time easier to move both van and tm in my experience as you will have the expense of removing the Truckmount if you separate them which is another 500-750 depending on unit and options.

When you want to sell something like that, it's harder becuase most BDCC's need a loan. Therefore IMO it needs to be at a great price to move fast. There are plenty of Machines on the market, but great deals? Not so much. I sold my Judson C4 on the second phone call, my butler on the 1st phone call. Sold another Van and custom machine I had a year ago on the first day as well. Time is money and it's easier to sell and just move on than sit and negotiate with 15 people over a month.

I sold twice.
One was my practically new Sprinter with an Apex with very few hours. Took a few months, got some real low ball offers which I did not really consider. Eventually a serious buyer showed up. Took some loss but did not get fleeced, like some of these offers. Lots of vultures out there. It definitely was a hassle.
Second one I sold was an older CDS + a Ford Econoline 250. I didn't want to deal with all the hassle and sold through my trusted supplier. They have more connection and know a lot more local carpet cleaning businesses. Was definitely worth it.

I sold my '06 Chevy with Chem Tex Panther 20.

It took a while but I wasn't desperate. I watched a few close offers walk away.

I don't regret it. Ford/Cleanco has been very solid. The Chevy sat around for almost a year before I got the right offer.

I have a 2006 e250 with 140k and a ss370 with 1900(or so) hours no issues.
Vans getting rusty need to go soon, runs great...
How much? Or call me...

Steve, I will for sure keep you in mind. It would be great for you! It's even got new tires!

Not sure what will happen, should know if it's for sale sometime this summer.

It's all in who's looking and if they're really interested in your equipment. I was going to unload the 03 Express with the Thermalwave Vortex as soon as I brought the Pro1200 home. For reasons I won't get into, I'm sure glad I still have the Thermalwave.....as my "backup".

When I originally bought the Thermalwave 1 1/2 years ago, it had sat unsold for at least 2 years. I happened to see it at Pembertons, and after 6 months of yanking Jimmys chain, I bought a basically brand new (40 hours) machine, waterpond, APO, water softener, and other stuff that went along with it, for a really neat price. Thanks JP. Probably $45,000+ (minus the van) to replace what I have in the setup at todays prices.

Of course, here's the new toy. Don't know how Martys face got in there.

I give mine away. When I'm done they are pretty much toast. I've never understood why anybody gets rid of a perfectly good machine. My last machine had 18k and still ran great but it had to be on its last leg. Leaked oil like crazy. I'd feel bad if someone bought it and then it imploded. It owed me nothing.

We sell 3-5 Butler truck mounts per year, so we do have a little experience in selling them.

In my opinion, keep them together. You can sell it as a complete package to someone who is just getting started in the business or looking to upgrade from a porta only.

Before you put the vehicle on the market, CLEAN IT UP!! I hear all the time from people looking at our used trucks about how nice they look. Whoever you sell the truck to, it will be their "new" vehicle, so it better look nice!

Unreliable and in this weather a direct drive would be a better choice.....

Make it reliable. I had an Avenger 210 and I had to make it reliable. Still kept it and ran it into the ground, over and over again. Then turned it into something else and ran that into the ground. I would never buy a lawnmower engine run truckmount again. Way to loud and the air that supposed to be cooling it really doesn't get to it. The longer you keep it and the more hours you put on it the higher your hourly profit.
