Exhaust heat exchangers

Does all exhaust heat exchangers make the water smell burnt when it comes out? The slide-in I am messing with even when the water is 500psi and 180F the water smells burnt is this normal?

Has to be something causing that Larry we run Prochems and Butlers and have owned Hydramasters both slide in and CD's and not had that issue.

Every TM that I have owned had exhaust HE. Never had smelly water.

Could the system needing Descaled cause the odors?
