do you guys look for animals and warn customers to move them?

like exotic birds and such that are sensitive to smells

we always do but had a customer that was shocked when we asked about the bird in the covered cage..

we have several exotic birds and they are very sensitive to odors and such..

just wondering

Yes i make all customers remove any birds from the areas to be cleaned.
My sister killed her parakeet by putting the cage near the stove while she was cooking breakfast, the teflon killed the bird.

We always ask customers to move birds. Years ago we killed a parakeet with some solvent mist. Sent a card and a tiny floral display on a tiny stand.

David, if your sister was cooking at a high enough temperature to cause Teflon off-gassing from a pan, the breakfast would have been a smoking ash - which would have killed the bird. More likely the bird died from exposure to normal cooking fumes. Parakeets die easily.

Yes we do ask that exotic birds be moved and animals be kept safe while we are cleaning.

My brother who is also a carpet cleaner, used to raise exotic birds, so we know how sensitive they can be.

Also heard of a guy who a parrot was picking on him, so he gave the bird a shot of protectant spray killing the bird by sealing it's lungs.

Idiot!

Anyway, we take many precautions, and this is one of them

In a bathroom or a room with a closed door

Upstairs if possible

Last thing you want to do is kill a few thousand dollar bird..people get very attached to the,..I know I am

A African grey and a blue and gold macaw

The grey is very sensitive but the macaw isn't so much

Years ago, I was in a house setting up to clean. The custys daughter had a bird that would sit outside the cage. I warned her that the door would be open about 2 inches, and that she should put her bird in the cage and move it.

10 minutes later, the damn thing flew right out the door. Never came back.....Hawk probably got it.
