EZ Boss 4047 Truck mount. made in Wichita Falls Tx. 900 hours, with hoses, reels and tanks. 40 HP kohler, 4.7 blower, 2500 psi pump. This thing gets HOT! Im only selling because the engine lost compression and I did could not wait for the factory to do a warranty repair on it so I bought a new one. This was note even in use for more than 1 year. I paid almost $13,000, my loss, your gain! This machine is at the factory in Wichita Falls, Tx.

Wow. Just bought a new one?

My 38hp Kohler also lost compression during the warranty.
I didn't even dick around with the warranty.
I just put new head gaskets in it. (took about hours) and was back in business.

Sometimes you have to judge a warranty claim against down time and lost business.
For me it was a easy choice.

I will say, that those components in a 13000 dollar machine is a very enticing price

What happened with the unit to damage such a young respectable engine as a 40 hp kohler?

What TM did you buy?

betcha it wasn't another Boss

Forgive me, F'Medic, but that doesn't pass the "smell test"
it would of been faster and a WHOLE lot less expensive to buy a fresh motor rather than pulling the TM and installing another

Looking at the machine picture I don't see how heat would of killed it, looks no different than any other air cooled motor. You ever think it's just a bad motor so let's not bash Nick..lol

You ever think it's just a bad motor

sure
possibility it's related to the operator too
looks like it was plumbed to exhaust thru the floor...did they run with doors closed ?
did they do something to cause excess back pressure?
(do the heat ex'ers need cleaned?)

did it lose coolant? (levels maintained)

just seems odd the "only" reason he's selling it is...he didn't want to install a new motor (one could presume had the mean$ ) ..er..i mean he didn't want to "wait" on a warranty claim

Odd

Is the ball valve a Texas diverter? I can see how someone could take out the blower and engine trying to make it hotter.

Could one of those ball valves been left in wrong direction while operating? Could that have caused the motor to overheat or build up too much back pressure?

If so that sounds like a warranty denial. :eekk:

I remember back in 91 when I just started out my first machine was a Prochem Cub and I being a dummy in the winter closed the doors and opened the passenger window about half way. I thought the machine would run fine and have plenty of air until it started to skip and studder and then I ran out to see smoke coming from the van, I had choked the air out of the van..

Dang Ralph, I always thought of you as a smart guy.

I guess I'll move you over to the other list... with Porkchop! :winky:
Like I said it was in my first year in business and please don't compare me to that pig farmer that only cleans 3 carpets a week. I have two trucks out almost every day...oink oink

yes, I believe the 2 valves are motor exhaust ports, that why there rust , heat accelerates rust

1 must be open at all times..

in theory simple idea..
close 1(HX) open other 2 engine muffler for no heat
open HX and close muffler for heat

open both for medium heat.

close both= nogood

Kholer a are good engines
I have had 4 kholer engines....25 hp...30 hp
1 lasted 2500 hour
1 lasted. 2000 hours
1 lasted 1500. Hours
I believe the key to longer lasting is open van air flow
And gotta use high grade full synthetic oil and change it frequently.....every 100 hours
If you have regular grade oil every 30...50 hours
But I wouldn't suggest low grade oil...it's only a few $ more for full synthetic.....

Cap, according to Larry and Kohler, they do not recommend synthetics, something about the lifters
