Hi mike! Thank you so much for getting back to me! I really appreciate it. I am looking to have my Linen couch cleaned. The manufacturers said it needs to be dry cleaned. This is a picture of the couch. Do you do this kind of cleaning? And if so could you give me a rough estimate? Thank you so much.

What is your response?

Mine would be "I'm sorry, we can't clean it."

I hate cleaning upholstery and I wouldn't want to waste time going over there to inspect it.

Ametuer. I answer 5 or 6 of these a day. Give her a price and go clean it.

Me: $180 and we have availability tomorrow.

BUT.. if you are going to try and upsell FPA, you better go over there and work your charm.

That looks like a PIA. Definitely charge for it but in my experience they never want to pay what its worth.

You may be aware we are the exclusive dealer of Fabric Protector in our area and we have a reasonable charge on linen...what were you thinking on price?
I'm not going to go first on price and probably don't want to do it if I don't get to sell the protector as part of the job...but that's me.

She needs to see you in person.

It could be linen, but people get fooled on that one as much as they do when they think they have silk rugs when they are instead rayon.

She also needs to have a discussion about dry cleaning. Yeah, its not the way to go 99.9999999999999999% of the time, but her question might mean that she'll look for trouble if you don't dry clean it. If she feels like you just don't want to do it, and if there is the smallest of post cleaning issues (slight texture change, some puckering of the cushions from minor shrinkage, a little "overwhitening" in the areas you clean more aggressively, anything....) she might make a big deal over it. So don't rush through that conversation with her.

I agree with the above comments regarding protector. White natural fiber fabrics should be protected.

How long would it take to detail vacuum and then hand wipe with OMS and terry towel off.
*Given that the condition is soiled light enough to dry clean. Otherwise if soiling conditions required HWE then I'd hit those areas wet and dry clean all the exterior.

$250.00-$300.00???

Before quoting I talked to here hubby at length about it. She is at work and can't talk.

She asked on a FB blog "Is there anyone in the valley who cleans upholstery?"

the only answer was from one of my friends suggesting me.
IF she had asked for a carpet cleaner 20 people would have chimed it.

No doubt.

But you haven't cleaned for her even once.

If I may may paraphrase Shakespeare's Cassius:

"The fault, dear Mikey, is not in the fabric, but in the customer...."

So lets say there are no liquid stains... What would you charge?

HWE only with the customer agreeing to any outcome. I would heavily manage the customers expectations and charge $225. If I got a really bad vibe I would get them to sign a waiver...

14 Detached cushions and it's linen... Just the pillows and cushions are going to take forever!

250-275$ if she's a sweetheart, 300+ if any possibility she might have "issues".

I found coupons online saying $59 for whole sectional cleaning. Can you match it?

2 extractors running with 2 guys, that couch could be completed in an hour with a 2 hour dry time.

I told her $250 for the sectional, $50 for the ten accent pillows, $120 for Cobbs, $400 for FPA

I'll be shocked to hear back from them. I bet it's an Ikea that they bought for $1200 or less.

Let us know what she says.

My guess: "let me talk to my husband and get back with you"
