Fan clutch

Just discovered my fan clutch squeaking on my 02 GMC im wondering Auto Zone or Dealership....im trying to avoid the helicopter noise from a aftermarket fan clutch...I know dealer means more but quality as well....

I put one on my '01 Chevy from NAPA last year, so far so good. WARNING: If that is still the factory clutch it will probably be tough to get off. I had to use about a 4' cheater bar and a great big pipe wrench to get mine off. Good luck.

Very little noise anytime really.

Is yours out? Have you used the card board to try to stop fan?

No I have a job in the AM.then after that I will pick up a new one ..what do yo mean card board to stop fan??

You fold up some cardboard and stick it into the fan blade path and see if you can stop the blade or slow it down. If it slows down or stops it is bad, if not it is still functioning as designed.

unless it is locked up...THEN
you get the helicopter noise .....

well i put a $50 one on about two years ago (it was locked tight)....
now i could stop it with my fingers....(don't try this)....
so it's kinna lik a crap shoot....
