State of the art. LOL

I remember my father was so proud of his gear. 175 with a stainless steel tank that had a build-in heater for hot shampoo. We vacuumed with a tank vacuum for the edges and used a Hild Pile Lifter for the open areas.

Steam Genie Maxiport was an upgrade over Ed York’s Vapor Vac which used a small sutorbilt and 75lb drag wand. The Steam Genie had 250 psi and much better vacuum, still used a drag wand but a much lighter more maneuverable one. We had a pair of them and they worked well other than suffering through the bucket brigade of dumping & filling.

My training when I started in the steam carpet cleaning business in 1970 was where to fill and dump the water and how much chemical to put in the tank. Made plenty of mistakes over the years. A lot of trial and error marketing to learn what worked and what didn't. I could be slow accepting new things, with the exception of the Hydrokinetic dry upholstery tool obtained in 1985.
